International Shipping?
Several times a week I ship something to a Freight Forwarder (no "real" issues to speak of).
Always assumed that a while back eBay automatically enrolled all me / all my listings to International Shipping.
But, I've had two shoppers from the UK message me in the last week wanting to know if I shipped to the UK.
My response was, "Yes, through eBay International Shipping. Might contact eBay and see if there's something you need to do"
Both replied that there was something that "I" needed to do?
I checked my listings and International Shipping is in there.
What am I missing? What do I need to change, if anything?

·2 years agoEIS prepares the customs paperwork and becomes the shipper of record.
Shipments of products which they think may violate customs regulations may not be sent via EIS.
Are they more careful, conservative, and knowledgeable than some Ebay sellers who do their own international shipping? - perhaps.
I sell items that are mostly paper, and have had no issues shipping anywhere in the world via EIS.

·2 years agoWhat were the two items? EIS filters out some products to certain countries due to restrictions, EIS also has some size and weight limits on the packages that can flow through EIS as well as a value cap.

Items that are shipped to buyers in the UK need to comply with all applicable UK laws and regulations. We have put measures in place to prevent US items that may not comply with UK regulations, such as CE Certification and/or Plugs and Sockets Regulations, from being sold to buyers in the UK.
I know nothing about car parts but my guess is that anything that ‘might’ be not allowed to the UK gets restricted. They tend to err on the side of caution.

I could not find a brake master cylinder lid/cap but I took a look at the following item.
Note the shipping note at the bottom. My guess is the item is not eligible to ship through the EIS program for some reason, either because there are import laws into the UK preventing it or it is one of the items EIS elects not so ship through EIS. There is a notation on the shipping page that indicates you can ship this direct, maybe, if you provide an international shipping method other than EIS. When EIS first became available one of the items on the prohibited list was auto parts. They have since removed that global restriction and must have it narrowed down for specific countries.
Due to export limitations and restrictions, items listed in the following categories also can't be shipped with eBay International Shipping. This is not an exhaustive list and it may be updated based on transportation regulations and export laws.

·2 years agoI have an item I shipped to UK...still opened in tracking from February 2023.
Tracking states "moving through network". Never heard from buyer so I assumed it got delivered.
The item didn't get scanned as "delivered" but I assumed it got delivered.
I guess buyer was honest or didn't bother to look at tracking. Otherwise, buyer can say item not delivered and I would have to refund.

·2 years agoYep, most likely whatever item they were looking at has some restriction to the UK via the eIS program. I just tell them I can't sell it to them, but you could consider digging into the customs requirements and see if you feel comfortable shipping directly instead of with eBay's program. I wouldn't, personally, but that's because we're busy enough that I don't want to add extra hassle.

·2 years agoThe EIS doesn’t ship all items to all countries and they seem to have lots of restrictions for the UK. The $285 sealmaster ships to the UK but that is the only item that does. More than 200 items ship to the other countries such as Japan, Spain and Canada. EIS does not ship used fuel related items anywhere agaik. I’m not sure if that applies to new ones too.
