International Seller Sale question
I specially stated on all my listing, where shipping is prohibited in the shipping area plus I have opted out of the international option. I received an order which to my surprise that the shipment was headed to EBAY's international group (I received an email from Ebay) here in the U.S. It was not sent to Kentucky but to Gelendale Heights, IL. Considering I do not ship international and know that these shipments used to be sent to Kentucky, how did this happen? Thanks!!!

OP3 years agoLastly, since I sell Extracts, they contain alcohol for which I cannot send out of the country without creating a major headache for all concern so If opt in then there will be issues moving forward. My choice is to opt out.

·3 years agoThey have been automatically opting people into this program and if you do not catch it in time to opt out all your listings will be shown to international buyers for purchase. You must opt out of the program.

·3 years agoNot sure what the item was but I looked at a few of your sold items and I could not see anything that was eligible for international shipping. I also looked at a few of your active listings and did not see anything that was eligible for international shipping. However, there have been a few glitches during the transition when eBay and/or the EIS contractor unilaterally modified all your listings, or at least looked at them for modification, and one or two may have slipped through.
I initially took a sideline approach to EIS but the program appears to be running OK and based on a few postings they are honoring the seller protections which are better than the ones sellers have for domestic sales/shipments. I have just modified my exclusion list and am waiting to be inserted into the program, which you cannot do on your own. Given 50% of eBay's market place is now international it is too good of an opportunity to pass up especially with the seller protections. Not only do they cover the seller for eBay cases they also cover the seller for chargebacks.

·3 years agoI took international shipping off hundreds of my products a few months ago and wouldn't you know it? I got a sale for one of them the other day. $37 bucks to ship it, since I didn't want to cause a defect by saying it was out of stock and canceling the sale. I KNOW that I took international off all those listings. I'm thinking when ebay integrated my account over that they signed me up again? I would say it is definitely a glitch, and even mentioned it on another thread last week. Check your listings! Seems even those that opted out of the GSP are now in the EIS.

You shouldn't be paying the shipping cost to the buyers country. You only pay the shipping cost to the forwarding center.
yes your listings do show that you are enrolled in EIS. If you wish to opt out you have to go to account settings and it can take a day or so to be completed.
EIS is better than the GSP was because you no longer have to worry about international returns, eBay handles them. And no international sales fee of 1.65% either.
If you are opted in to EIS and the listing says no international shipping on the listing form then EIS is automatically applied to the listing.

·3 years agoIt was $37 to ship it to the U.S. location, but buyer did pay a portion of that. I don't know what you looked at but I do not offer international shipping on any of our pictures, nor statues. I took it all off months ago and now they are all showing up again. We do have EIS on the other thousand or so. I did not opt into GSP or EIS because we do not ship internationally on a few hundred products. What I'm saying is that when ebay switched us over, they put ALL our products back on EIS. I have to change them all again. They seem to just switch the GSP to EIS per store, so the listings you do not ship internationally will be caught up in it.

True.
But.
Your overseas customer will now be paying duty and sales taxes on delivery.
With GSP these were covered before you even saw the purchase and shipped.
That may not mean much to most buyers, but sellers can expect Feedback from unhappy customers who had previously received shipments and did not understand that they had paid duty.
ALSO
If you are listing items under the wrong category, you may have a furious customer who pays very high duty on that category rather than the correct one. The example we are already seeing is items listed as Coins (which are dutiable) instead of Bullion (which is not).
This could affect your feedback.

Curious what the item was and why it cost you $37 to ship it from Staten Island, NY to Chicago? Simply taking international shipping off of the listings would not have stopped eBay and/or the EIS contractor from unilaterally modifying your listings when you were transitioned to EIS, or at least ran through the process. You have to OPT out of the program, FYI you can't opt in, and you also need to set your buyer exclusion list to the foreign countries you do not wish to ship to. If that happens to be all foreign countries then check them all.
I looked at a couple of your active listings and you are in EIS and your listings are setup to ship to a number of foreign countries. You may want to look at the seller protections eBay and/or the EIS contractor are offering under EIS before you opt out. For example the following item.

·3 years agoTrue the same as it was with the GSP.
I would just cancel the sales as problem with buyers address and then combine the items into one listing. You of course can only do this if they are from the same category and same type of item. It's a bit more work, but it doesn't take long and you can just copy a photo from one listing to add to the other new listing so no need to take new pictures even.

·3 years agoI have combine shipping set up, if an international buyer puts 4 items in cart and pays together, would that be considered one order? Plus does EIS go by purchased label weight or weight by sale, when my US buys, the weight adds up per item. So if each item weights 4 oz then 4 items would be a pound but actually they would still only weight 4 ounces total.
Also I read the "seller terms and conditions" which states max package size BUT also saw "Packages must meet or exceed 7.25 inches in width and 10.25 inches in length". Its not on the FAQ, just mentions max's, I ship alot of my items in 4x6", 7x9" envelopes and most boxes would be 4x4x4 or 6x4x4, if this is true, then 95% of my items wouldn't qualify

You just set up blocked countries... which as long as you didn't miss a country on the block list SHOULD still not allow EIS shipping. The EIS team has said the system honors our blocked country list.

EIS is a better program than the GSP was.
No international returns, eBay handles ALL of the returns and you keep the sale ( I know sounds too good to be true, but it is)
No 1.65% international sales fee.

OP3 years agoI automatically block out 220 which is the max excluding a P.O. Box. I just opted out and thanks. Regardless this should not have occurred. With that said, valuable lesson on opting out regardless of the blocked country list. Thanks for your comments.

Your listing was apparently Ebay International Shipping (EIS) eligible.
With EIS you ship to that US location. Once eBay confirms that the item is what was listed, they take "complete" responsibility and sent the item on to the buyer. Any disputes (not received, damaged, not as described) at that point are completely the responsibility of the eBay EIS program, and any refunds are handled by eBay with no harm to the seller.
If you want out of EIS, you can go to seller preferences to "opt out" of the EIS program.
Excluding the countries that one does not ship to is supposed to stop the EIS for sellers, but not sure how effective that is.

The seller is shipping to a facility in the US, he's not shipping internationally.
The EIS service is the entity that's shipping out of the country.

·3 years ago@soh.maryl The EIS has stated they will honor a sellers country blocks, that is the only way to NOT have the EIS work on one listing when a seller is enrolled in EIS.
Since the OP blocked ALL countries on ALL listings the system might take that to mean no international shipping. When your listing says no international shipping when setting up the listing then EIS is active if you have opted in. I know that this is counter intuitive but that's how it works. I had a few old country blocks on my listings that I am going to remove now since EIS is a better program.

·3 years agoSo there are ways in which the EIS is considered to be international shipping (even though it isn't) and so people who don't want to ship internationally can refuse to ship to the EIS terminal in Glendale, IL?

·3 years agoIf you wish to EIS first you opt in and it applies to ALL listing, no per listing OPT OUT like there was with GSP.
Now to OPT OUT a single listing you have to exclude ALL countries. For example you have a cellphone that you don't want to ship internationally because it will only work on a specific US carrier.
1. When you set up the listing it say no international shipping on the listing. Here's what one of business policies looks like. Since you are not shipping international the EIS is you select no international shipping on the listing after you opt in:
2. You can exclude countries on a per listing basis and the EIS team has said they will honor the country blocks you set. If that's not working right then people need to let eBay know. I do not have any exclusions.

What I have read is the eBay EIS will honor the seller choice of excluded countries.
It is not like when a buyer uses a FF service where we can't block international buyers

·3 years agoI have been watching my account for notices of EIS. I have checked my preferences.
I have not gotten any notices, but I just went to look.
I am now "enrolled".
That is a recent happening. I have not had any sales under EIS. I have 215 countries/locations blocked. It seems that I may be missing a couple three. I will have to look. I do not offer "international" shipping in my listings.
I was in the GSP way back when, but "opted out" of that program years ago. My items do not really attract international buyers that much, but if the current EIS policies (eBay takes "all" the heat) hold up I may consider unblocking some (if not all) locations.

I would guess that unlike a buyer who uses a FF and eBay looks at the shipping address, which of course is US, with EIS they are looking at the buyers registered address.

I could not find the item in your sold listings that went through EIS but I did not check all 102 items you have sold in the last 90 days so no idea why this happened possibly just a glitch when eBay and the EIS contractor updated all of your listings.
