International Buyers Shipping to Portland Oregon (Pokemon Cards)
I now have 3 separate buyers (new buyers) from area's like Hong Kong and Taiwan trying to ship to a commercial area in Portland Oregon. Seems shady and one even gave me negative feedback for a cancel... UGH!!

·4 months agoBuyers using that FF location are the only ones who have bought multiple items from me and have never asked for shipping discounts. I think they are my only repeat buyers, too....not sure if that is good or bad, lol.
Pokemon cards, regardless of where they are being shipped to, seem to be a problem all on their own

When I worked at the card store I audited our TCGplayer account and found that fully 50 percent of the orders we were refunding for "items not received" were going to freight forwarders who specialized in the Asian markets.
Then when we started selling singles on ebay as well (stamp and envelope, before standard envelope was a thing), the exact same thing started happening. Freight forward customers filing claims the very first day they were able to. Those who answered messages universally claimed to work at the freight forwarder. Despite having account registered in China, little command of the english language and only sending messages during the middle of the night (for us).
Now that everything has tracking it doesn't happen as much, but they will still try, and they love Pokemon cards. I would not have shipped a $247 card to a freight forwarder either.
My card listings actually used to all say something along the lines of "I do not ship to freight forwarding addresses, as I cannot guarantee final delivery. Any orders addressed to them will be cancelled."

·4 months agoSo you not only cancelled a buyer’s purchase for a bogus reason but you also left them feedback basically calling them a scammer?
That negative is well deserved and I hope the buyer gets the one you left them removed.

·4 months agoYou might want to read up a little bit about freight forwarders and how they work.
Basically, they open up your listings to more potential buyers.
ETA: In the US, there are several states that do not charge state sales tax. Oregon is one, Delaware is another. There are several freight forwarders located in these states for that very reason.

·4 months agoUnfortunately, the only evidence of something being shady applies to you who earned that negative FB by cancelling an order.
The vast majority of orders which ship to freight forwarders are no more likely to be a problem than any other order, no matter what you might read when doing an internet search.

·4 months agoI ship to Taiwan and Hong Kong but not China.
These buyers have money and spend it and are usually honest.
Never ever had a problem with freight forward yet to other countries.
I understand it is an expensive item...but we do have some shady buyers who live and purchase in the USA as well.
And some USA shady buyers can do a credit card dispute because they know the routine.

·4 months agoWhy would you cancel a sale that is going through a freight forwarder in Portland? They buy, you ship. If you canceled without them asking, you take the demerit. Too many of those and your career with eBay could be over. You can be reported by the buyer for canceling without them asking you to do so. The one in Portland which is by the airport, is the Pacific Rim forwarding service.

·4 months agoThis is called a freight forwarding service. People in countries outside US use these to have items sent to them when US sellers don't ship to their location.
You should send them like you send any other package. If the item is expensive, you can add signature confirmation if you'd like.
As with anything in this world, some people have had bad experiences sending items to freight forwarders, but overwhelmingly, they are just like shipping to any other US address.
