Insufficient Address even though my address is correct
Summary: The discussion revolves around the issue of an insufficient address despite having the correct information for an eBay account. A participant suggests that the seller might have hand-written the address labels incorrectly, either at the post office or through purchases on the USPS website, and advises filing a 'not received' claim once tracking indicates the item was returned to the seller. The participant emphasizes keeping communications concise and to the point to receive prompt and helpful responses from others.
I had my eBay account since 2018. I never had issues with eBay. Never had delivery issues with eBay. I always leave positive feedback and all my feedback is positive. I’m an excellent buyer and I bought many things from good sellers so eBay isn’t a place where I run into issues. I use my eBay account to buy blu-rays, action figures, popcorn buckets, sneakers etc I recently bought a popcorn bucket from eBay. it was supposed to be delivered today but the tracking saids “ Insufficient Address “ I know the mailman and the delivery guy so that’s why I never had an issue with delivery. Unfortunately today the delivery guy I know wasn’t working, so I spoke to the mailman who knows the guy that delivers my packages but she told me someone else was taking his route today and she reached out to the delivery driver and gave them my apartment number. she told me Insufficient Address means no apartment number. I contacted the seller and they told me they will resend it when they get it and they also said they used the address on my eBay account which is the same address i always used. I contacted USPS twice. The first time the guy told me that the shipping label was damaged (I’m thinking the eBay seller used regular paper instead of shipping label. I requested to have the package held at a post office so I could pick it up and he told me it has to be returned. Then i called again and got a lady. She told me based off the details that my address is correct but she doesn’t know what it saids on the label because the label could say something different, she also said something confusing that the delivery guy didn’t mark the package as Insufficient Address it was the local post office and she told me that didn’t make sense because the driver has to mark it as Insufficient Address and it wasn’t done by the driver. I ordered from many sellers who don’t do returns and never had an issue with delivery. I read eBay terms and conditions and It saids basically it’s up to the seller to refund me or reship my item. So basically it sounds like I lost out on $97. what can I do ?

If you had to reach out so this new mailman would be given your apartment number you address is indeed insufficient. It would be wise to add it right now.

·4 months agoThe seller is obligated to ship a solid/paid for item to the ship to address provided by the buyer at the time of sale. Buyers can provide their home address or some one else's address i.e a family or friend.
What is different about a "mailman or delivery guy"?

·4 months agoAll carriers who run into an incomplete address, scan it as "incomplete address", then mark the package with an "IA" directly on the label" and return it to the mail truck. Upon arriving back at the PO, all IA packages are processed, and a small label w/ barcode is generated to ship the package back to the sender. Once the package is scanned as IA , the recipient can no longer retrieve that package. Someone scanned it as IA or it wouldn't have shown up in the tracking info. If you have an apt #, it must be included on the label and not as an afterthought where some lady reaches out to the carrier.
You are very lucky if your seller automatically re ships without first giving you a refund for the item minus actual shipping costs they incurred and then gives you the option to repurchase. It means that your seller will pay the shipping cost twice. All sellers rely on you to make sure that your address is correct and complete.
Account> addresses> Shipping address> edit > add your apt. #
This is where you'd like to receive items you purchase ( this can be different from ship from or where returns are delivered). USPS carriers retire, go on vacation, get sick, etc. Their subs may not know you.

·4 months ago@shadoex following up with what @dhbookds asked:
...and if you do have the correct apt. number with your ebay account, could very well be the seller handwrites their own labels, purchasing at the post office and/or purchases from USPS website and then either mis-wrote the Apt.# and or left it off.
As stated by others, file a 'not received' once tracking shows it went back to seller and follow prompts.
Also, as @christworks stated, and you felt you needed to tell them when/how to respond, know that it is ALWAYS best to keep your 'issue' short and sweet so all the others not subscribing to the Novel can easily and quickly see the issue, to give a helpful response.
After all, you are trying to 'just get an answer' so 'just give the issue.

·4 months agoStop writing long-winded paragraphs that are difficult to read and over half of it has nothing to do with your situation. Example: You have all postive feedback. Irrelevant, and buyers can only receive postive feedback.

·4 months agoIf you can't get the item back from the post office you file "Item not received". It will likely get returned to the seller anyway.
