Insertion Fees Math is not Mathing
I need help in understanding how the monthly free 250 listings works.
My last sale was on 12/31/25. After that sale, at the end of December, I had 240 active listings.
Last year I was suddenly being charged insertion fees, so I stopped adding listings, and began to monitor the status of the Used/Left free listings in the Promotional Offers box on my Seller Overview page.
I have been waiting until the total free used listings for January reached 240, so that I could safely add another 10 listings and be sure to avoid insertion fees.
Today, instead of reaching 240 used listings, it reads that I have used 241 free listings, with 9 left.
I have not made any sales for the month of January, so far, and my active listings stat has been 240 all month.
Also, after seeing the 241 used free listings, I searched the free listings for the item that sold on 12/31/25. It is not included in the free listings list.
So -- why is it saying that I have used 241 free listings, when I only have 240 listings? And didn't make any sales this month?

OP6 months agoI have another question about insertion fees vs. free listings.
If I revise the title of a listing, does that remove it from the free listings list?
I currently have 245 listings, all of which were free at the beginning of this month.
I recently revised several of them, including updating the titles.
Now my stats say that I have 231 free listings, with 19 unused.
Can't understand what is going on.

·6 months agoRevising a listing does not affect your free insertions. If you mistakenly hit Sell Similar, that would, but otherwise it’s likely some of your listings just renewed around the same time.

·8 months agoI also see that you have 245 listings total, at the time I am writing.
5 of them are new listings that were started yesterday, Jan 21, 2026. So you had a total of 240 listings before you made those new ones.

·8 months agoFor what it's worth, I experienced a glitch a few months back where I was charged insertion fees. It was actually charging me insertion fees when I bulk edited a couple of hundred listings. It took an hour on the phone, but (mostly) got it worked out and I was refunded. I think there were a few items that never got refunded, but I'm not spending more time on the phone over a few dollars.

When I go to your current listings you have 245 active listings.
Sellers without an eBay store receive 250 total, not new, insertion free listings each month. When your already listed buy it now and auction listing renew they are counted as a listing against your monthly limit. Selling an item has no effect on how many you can list since each listing is counted when it is listed or renews.
