Insertion fees?
I normally do not check the details of my weekly payout. However today I did check, and I found 3 insertion fees of $0.25 each for Dec 31, 2025.
I have a basic store with 1000 free listings. I have 900+ listings but well below 1000. So I am wondering why I am being charged for these 3 listings.
I then looked back at a few other recent payouts and found that my Dec 2 payout had 13 insertion fees charged to my account. Again, I do not go over 1000 listings at any one time, staying well within my limit.
I called eBay and talked with an agent who could not determine why this is happening. He ended up issuing a credit as a " one time courtesy".
Anyone else seeing these insertion fees or can explain why they are showing up ? TIA

·9 months agoand if you do "Sell Similar" or "End and Relist" those also count for your total! So if you did this for 100 items a week that's 400 new listings!

·9 months agoWhen an item is renewed automatically for another 30 days, this counts as an insertion. Hopefully that explains it.

The limits are not based on the number of listings you have at any one time.
It is how many total insertions (both new and renewal) you have during the entire month.
If you have 950 listings renew on Dec 10, sell 75 listings by Dec 25, and then list 75 more on Dec 28, you will never have had more than 950 listings. But you will have had 1025 insertions, so you will have exceeded your limit by 25 listings.

The "1000 free listings" could be better explained by eBay.

How it works
You won't be charged an insertion fee if you still have an allotment of zero insertion fee listings available in a given month.
The following count toward your monthly allocation of zero insertion fee listings:

·9 months agoAnother possible cause would be if you listed anything in two categories, I believe your charged the second category fee (listed as an insertion fee) even when you have free insertions remaining.

No 2nd category used.

·9 months agoI always found it difficult to try to count the newly listed, rolled & sold listings. It is way easier to keep an eye on the monthly total of used/left listings on your seller hub under Promotional Offers. If you see you are running short by the end of the month and you don't want to pay .35 to list, just hold off till the first of the month.

i see 894 listings (today)...you sold well over 120 (I stopped counting) in December. That alone exceeds 1000 listings when you add the sold (which had to be listed/counted) and the active listings.
In addition, I see a few of these thrown in
"ended by the seller on Fri, Dec 12 at 7:20 AM because the item is no longer available."
are you possibly using the OOS option on some items?

OP9 months agoThx for your reply.
My sold listings (120+) are part of the 894, and were not separate listings.
I do have the Out Of Stock turned on. (52 OOS items today)

·9 months agoYour OOS listings also count as an insertion every 30 days.
@luckythewinner explained it perfectly.......best explanation I have seen to clarify "free listings"
