Inogen Oxygen Concentrator does NOT need a prescription
My listing for an Inogen Oxygen concentrator was removed by ebay and because it is on their list as an item needing a prescription. This item can be purchased directly off the manufacturer's website WITHOUT a prescription. Also there are several of these items currently for sale on ebay. Maybe the words "oxygen concentrator" have been left off the ebay listing description and thus remaining as valid listings under the radar. This item should be able to be listed on ebay without this unwarranted restriction. If you need one, go to their site and spend the big bucks because you won't be able to buy mine for a fair price.

·2 years agoBeing that I designed the device you are trying to sell, I can emphatically state that as a medical device, it must have a prescription to purchase or rent. The agent who processed your order may have received the prescription directly from a medical provider.
What isn't told out there is that earlier generations of the Inogen Portable Oxygen Concentrators WERE sold by Inogen without a prescription. How you ask. The units were marketed as aviation supplemental oxygen, required for small aircraft flying above 10k ft (I may have the altitude wrong). As far as I know, if ones sells this unit for supplemental oxygen not used medicinally, then you should be able to sell it. The key is how you market it. Can't call it a medical device and sell it without proper licensing. You can sell it to a mountaineer for climbing purposes.

My guess is Inogen doesn't want it to be sold on Ebay. Don't relist it or it could jeopardize your account.
Happy Holidays.

OP3 years agoYou are right. Not worth running afoul with ebay. I have never tried to sell anything before so it was kinda surprising. But I was just grousing because I assumed I could sell this on ebay because I saw others listing this same unit. After I received ebay notice I went to the Inogen site and it appeared you could buy it directly online. And since I purchased this unit over the telephone from Inogen it never dawned on me that it was a medical device needing a prescription. Live, learn, and cooperate! Thanks.

·2 years agoWell, being able to buy something directly on the internet, and being able to buy something without a prescription, are two different things. It isn't always mutulally inclusive.
Many people here have had this occur and not be aware something was restricted this way. It is further frustrating because many check the site listings and see their item up for sale.
