Impossible to reinstate my account!
I made an account to list some stuff, and my account was immediately 'temporarily restricted'. To reinstate it, I received a message telling me to go to the 'Help & Contact page below and selecting Contact Us'.
I do this, and am greeted with an automatic bot. This bot tells me to go to my messages page and follow the instructions in my messages. The instruction? 'go to the Help & Contact page below and selecting Contact Us'. So I become trapped in a fruitless vicious cycle.
I then request to speak to an agent, which prompts me to type my phone number in (despite my phone number already being linked to my account). However, the only two number prefixes in the drop-down menu are the US and Canada options - I am UK based with a UK phone number. So this is a non-viable option.
The cherry on the icing on the cake: I click the 'email us' button, only to be greeted with an error message claiming that the 'servers are down' - something that I imagine is a permanent problem to purposely avoid conflict resolution.
All I wanted was to list some items, instead I'm chasing my own tail trying to reinstate an account that was suspended for no reason, with no clear end in sight.

·2 years agoOh, that's a little different.
I think these contact options will work for UK sellers, worth a shot since you're having trouble with the direct method on the site:
https://www.facebook.com/eBay
https://x.com/askebay/
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Use the Message button on any of those pages, don't post your question publicly to the page. They'll respond, you'll be given a link to another website so you can log in and verify your eBay account, and then they can help you.

This is a US community discussion forum. You are in the UK. What applies in your country may not apply here in the US or other countries. You may be better served by logging out of ebay.com and logging back into ebay.com/uk/ Here's your community forum link that may be helpful. By the way if your other account was suspended, so will this one you just created today:

Good luck getting the help and advice you need.

·2 years agoIf you were suspended instantly like that, do you have a previous account that was suspended, or is there a chance you were associated (via IP Address, physical address, email address, any other personal information) with another account that had previously been suspended? That's the most common reason I know of for an instant suspension on your account. Rarely would CS be able to help, though, so unfortunately it could be a lost cause unless you can identify for sure that it's not tied to your own previous account and that the restriction has nothing to do with you, and even though it's a long shot.

OP2 years agoI was suspended after I'd listed one item and linked my bank account details - I've never had an eBay account before either at my physical address or attached to my email (as far as I'm aware anyway). Would love to just be able to speak to someone to resolve the issue, the message I received says:
'We’ll just need to ask you a few questions to verify your account so you can get back up and running again. If we don’t hear from you within 7 days, your account may be at risk of being suspended.'
Not sure how they expect to hear from me in this instance.

·2 years agoYou are on the U.S. board, so are probably signed in to register here. You need to sign out and sign back in on the UK site.

OP2 years agoI signed up on the UK site (.co.uk) - but once I clicked the 'contact us' button, it automatically transferred me across the US site (.com). Any ideas how to prevent the automatic redirect?

Use that link in the message you received. Once the dot com contact page loads, see if you can change the dot com in the page address in your browser's address bar to dot co dot uk instead.
That may not always work, but it can work quite often.
Otherwise, try this UK contact link instead:
