I'm responsible for a chargeback on a sale through ebay's international shipping program?
I sold an item through ebay's international shipping program a few months ago. The buyer had contacted me several times letting me know that delivery was attempted, but unsuccessful and that he believed the package was being returned to sender. I told him to contact ebay directly and ask them for assistance since they were handling the international leg of the shipping. So eventually he opens an "item not received" case and ebay closes the case, denying his request for a refund. Fast forward another month or so and I get a notice that a payment dispute has been opened and my funds from that sale are on hold. I called ebay and talked to a couple different reps trying to figure out what's going on. The only instruction they gave me was to add the tracking info into the case. After pressing the second rep, she basically admitted that if the chargeback isn't reversed(very unlikely), then I will lose the case and be responsible for paying the full amount of the sale. How is this possible? Right on ebay's website it says the following :
"You'll be protected against item not received claims and chargebacks once your item is accepted at the domestic hub"
Do I have any recourse here or is this just the way the program works? Any advice or direction would be appreciated.

I think you are worried for noting.
If/when that happens, contact ebay.

·6 months agoSome chargebacks do not require you to respond, some do.
If eBay directs you to respond to the case, I would respond to the case. Upload the tracking number and state that the item arrived at eBay's International Hub, and per eBay policy eBay is responsible for any issues that arise after it arrives at the hub.
