I'm I being paranoid or could this somehow be a scam?
Knock on wood, I've not been scammed yet on eBay by a buyer. With that said, I'm always holding my breath that my time will come. I just sold a book ($90) and it is going to a new eBayer with zero feedback. That's not necessarily my concern, but her address is wrong. The spelling of her street name is incorrect. I googled it and no such street in her city exists but it autocorrects to a different "corrected" street name when I search it. Am I just being paranoid here? I suppose she could have just accidently typed her street name incorrectly when she signed up for an ebay account. I plan on shipping it Priority with full insurance and tracking. I'm not even sure exactly how people scam in this way but I'm certain someone has experienced something or heard of something. Anything else I should do? Thanks for any help. I hope I'm just overthinking this whole thing as I tend to do.

·2 years agoCheck in your inbox of emails on your phone or computer...not eBay. I always double check my payments on my iPhone in my inbox as well as on eBay. I always go with my inbox of payments...especially International addresses.

·2 years agoI just sent out a package and while I generally don't look up customers' addresses, this one happened to be in the same town as my in-laws, so I googled it. The address came up as non-existent. The buyer had tons of feedback and they paid me to ship it to that address so I sent it. It got there fine. Tracking shows that it was delivered safely to a parcel locker.

·2 years agoOne of the long standing issues on eBay is that when buyer register or when they add a new address during checkout eBay does not verify the addresses. This allows typos and other entry errors to pass through. When (if) you print a USPS label through eBay it will usually get corrected.
Bottom line, an address that has small errors like this is not a sign of anything. As far as Seller Protection for Not Received claims, the only thing eBay checks is the zip+4, that needs to match the address provided, spelling mistakes or calling a "road" as a "street" does not.

Your best bet is to cancel.
If you do cancel, use "problem with buyers address" as the reason.
An understanding buyer would allow you to cancel and then they could repurchase after making the address correction.

OP2 years agoI just messaged the buyer through ebay and asked about her street name. I just said that I wanted to make sure of the spelling before I were to ship. We'll see how her response goes. Thanks for the help 🙂

I hope it really is new because this is probably a gift purchase.
If this was a scammer, they might be more likely to buy a higher priced copy.
So this probably is about average risk other than the address problem. If it is a gift, they probably did not know the correct spelling. If something goes wrong with the order, it could complicate matters.

OP2 years agoYes, it is brand new. That's a good point about a scammer potentially buying a higher price copy! I didn't even think of that.
