Ignorant or deceptive sellers
I am really tired of sellers who are ignorant of the of the products they scrounge up to sell. Ask for data sheet: Don't have one, don't know what that is, I am just a reseller.........
Who manufactured this item? I don't know. There is no identifying Mfg. on high pressure hose? Idon't know.
I don't know, I don't know, I am not technical person blah blah blah.
This is a serious problem I don't understand why so many of these dolts have great feedback? Family members, maybe? Friends?
Ask serious questions before you buy. Never mind ratings.

·2 years agoShould you not have asked for the data sheet before buying the item? Most products from China which are replacement parts do not come with any data sheet. I would suggest to you if data sheets are important and the part is for critical work, buy a brand name product which will cost you several times what the ones from China will cost. They are generic replacement parts. Not brand name.

·2 years agoI have actually made a ton of money here buying from sellers who don't know what they had. 95% of my inventory on my main selling ID, not this one, comes from eBay purchases. Education is the key.

·2 years agoThankfully all the big box stores have their data sheets attached to each retail item with the country manufactured in. Amazon even includes a data book and gold seal with each purchase. They even provide the name and street address of each of the employees who work at the manufacturing facility. I sure wish they would include a photo and phone number, too. That's outrageous!!!!!!

The seller didn't have one.
You bought the item anyway.
Then left a negative feedback.
Unbelievable.

·2 years agoUnless this is a one-of-a-kind unique item and I will be forever scarred if I am unable to get it, when all the information I need about a listing is not available, my general solution is to move on and find a different item or different seller.
Is this terribly ingenuous on my part?

·2 years agoActually after reading your post I think you have it all wrong . Not sure how the seller is ignorant or deceptive . If you wanted to know if it came with a data sheet or an identifying mark why wouldn't you ask before purchasing ? Seems like you need to research before you buy before accusing people of something they never claimed .

To give a seller a neutral because you asked to cancel, is absurd.
To post here and hope for commiseration with others, is absurd.
To continue to shop here with all the dolt sellers, hoping for a good outcome, is absurd.

·2 years agoThe expectation of many buyers is that they will get a low price when they buy on Ebay, they will not get high quality, customer support or super customer service.
There are sellers on Ebay who offer high quality, customer support and super customer service, and they may make sales based on that, but Ebay's always been requiring less than that of their sellers.
Many buyers on Ebay know more about the product they are buying than the seller does, and even educate sellers.
If you not know what you are buying do not rely on the sellers explanation of anything but the condition. Go get educated in the normal distribution channel for the product.
Buying from a liquidator, yard saler or flea marketeer requires you know what you are doing and buying.

OP2 years agoNo, I nagged someone of a $75.00 item plus $16.00 shipping that was falsely advertised and had to spend over $40.00 to get the necessary components to complete project. Had the item not been falsely advertised, I could have bought the correct item and components for less. My stupidity, sellers deception. He should suffer the consequences.

Now you're talking about false advertising and deception, and that is something entirely different. Also, that seller from China would not appear to be "scrounging" inventory, not with that many listings, quantities, and sales.
So, what are you complaining about? Laziness? Or fraud? If you bought from a lackadaisical seller, that's on you. If you bought from a deceptive seller, you could have opened an INAD case and been fully refunded.

Your protected by the MBG why didn't you just file a INAD claim and have the buyer either pay for the shipping to return it or refund you and allow you to keep the item.

·2 years agoOk, i see, @rtul8078 but then i am perplexed. It is easy to follow the eBay bread crumbs. I found the neg about the data sheet you gave the vendor, and therefore found the product you bought from him. That neg was for an item valued at $3.66 usd. See screenshots below.
Robert, in your OP you were pretty unequivocal about the frustration you felt over the data sheets and ignorant sellers. You did not say anything about the item being not as described and that you were the victim of a fraudulent seller, which is a crime.
Did you neg the right seller?

·2 years agoPossibly you should educate yourself better on the items before you buy. Just suggesting. Investigate always BEFORE you invest or make a purchase. I believe most live auctioneers begin their sales with a saying - "Buyers beware." In other words, know what you are bidding on or buying. It's up to the buyer to know what they are bidding on. ·2 years agoYou see...this used to be the beauty of ebay.
Folks selling stuff they picked up at a TS or YS or even around their house having no clue what it was except that maybe it was "worth something".
And buyers found "deals & bargains" for years by knowing what it was when the seller didn't.
Now some buyers expect every seller to know "what it is" as if they were buying brand new from a big box store, and then whine that they can't get bargains anymore.

OP2 years agoConsumers Energy in Michigan had a surplus outlet in Jackson where folks could pick up items ranging from valves to electronic components inexpensively. I got a complete HP server in a rack including UPS and 18 disk drives for $75.00. Surplus from Palisades Nuclear plant. If I were to sell it, I could provide complete HP information.
We went to the sales Saturday and stood in line to get admitted to the sales. A fellow I will call "Ming" pushed ahead and butt in line to be first through the door every time we went there. He used a shopping basket and ran through place just grabbing stuff as he ran. Two days later it was on eBay. From circuit boards to valves he admitted he knew nothing about the stuff he was selling. This is the kind of person I am complaining about.

·2 years agoBut why does this bother you? Why does it matter to you that 'Ming' is selling items online he doesn't know anything about. I don't get how that bothers you. Obviously you wouldn't be buying from "Ming" anyways.
I have sold an oil painting before online. I wasn't the artist, I didn't create the frame, and I couldn't read the artists signature. This was a vintage painting I acquired over the years and no longer wanted. I thought I would sell it cheaply so that someone else could enjoy it in their home. Apparently that would bother you because I wouldn't be able to answer simple questions such as who was the artist, so that means that I just keep it or burn it in my backyard.
If your complaint was that sellers are selling items they know nothing about AND give false or misleading answers to questions because of that, your complaint would have some validity. However, you are complaining just for the mere fact that a person is allowed to sell an item they cannot answer in-depth questions about. Best of luck to you....

I can guarantee the OP that the owners of Walmart don't have "clue one" about every item that they are selling in each of their over 10,000 outlets, nor would they be able to supply "data sheets" on particular items if requested by a customer.
The OP seems to want "triple A" service from "mom and pop" retailers on eBay, many of whom are just weekend scroungers at flea markets and garage sales -- none of which offer "data sheets."

·2 years agoI understand, but from the sellers' POV, I'd rather not be THAT seller who loses out because I don't know what I have. And when you think about it, in general it has been a long time since it has not been possible to know what one had with a little research.

·2 years agoThat completely depends on how and what you are selling.
I get 4 truckloads a week of about 24 pallets each and some pallets have 20,000 pieces.
All the inventory is non manifest, and a lot has no GTIN. Trying to play inspector gadget for all the information would cost more than what we sell for.
The entitlement this buyer has makes me glad we have a block list.

·2 years agoYes, it would be impossible to vet that much stuff - it's why I've never gone that route, though I've purchased on the wholesale a few times. Expecting a data sheet for a buck and a half item or whatever it was is a little much, though. If someone is selling that cheap, TBH, I don't expect much.

I’m a buyer only, but I imagine that many sellers might consider someone ignorant … and possibly even a jerk … for leaving a seller their only negative feedback because they failed to provide a ‘data sheet’ when asked.
’Absurd’ doesn’t come close to what I’m thinking. 🙂

OP2 years agoI have gotten much usable valid information from "Chinese" sellers. My problem is usually with US resellers of Chinese items.
