If person have too many unpaid strikes do they know?
I know that ebay tell bidders when they try, why they can't bid on a person stuff - too many strikes - but does ebay tell buyers that they 'just got' an unpaid strike? Or have an amount that will get them blocked from some/most sellers stuff?
I ask because we thought the strike block was for not paying for auctions and had no effect on doing a BIN/IPR with that account. And that was the reason people were asking us to add BIN to auctions - they bid, were blocked and know that they can still BIN.
But after noticing the wording on BBL activity page - "This list shows buyers blocked from bidding on/PURCHASING your item(s)" it seems that it's a complete 'no sale' deal.
So if you're blocked from bidding can you still BIN something else with that seller?

·1 year agoI block buyers for many reasons...will the buyer know if it's too many strikes? No.
A buyer can get blocked from doing a retraction(s) on an auction by the seller, giving negative feedbacks to sellers, asking too many questions or demanding how item is shipped...or if seller just thinks the buyer might have too much drama going on in a potential purchase. The reasons are endless for getting blocked.

There are two general ways that a prospective buyer can get blocked by a seller: failing to meet the general Buyer Requirements that the seller has set up (e.g. no more than 2 Unpaids in the past 12 months), or getting specifically blocked by ID name in the seller's Blocked Buyer List.
If you're on the seller's BBL, you're not going to able to purchase anything, period. (Changing your ID will not help; eBay tracks IDs by their internal ID number, not whatever alias the user has chosen for himself.)
If you're blocked by a Buyer Requirement problem, you may be able to purchase anyway by a change of strategy. In particular, if you have too many Unpaids on your record, I think you may still be able to make an Immediate Payment Required purchase, since the item is yours as soon as you pay, and before that moment, you have not blocked anyone else from buying it instead.
If you're blocked because the seller does not ship to your country, you may still be able to buy it via eBay International Shipping (if that option is offered by the seller) or by signing yourself up with a domestic reshipper in the U.S., so that the seller only needs to send the item to your reshipper (in Delaware or Florida or wherever).

OP1 year ago"we thought the [too many] strike block was for not paying for auctions and had no effect on doing a BIN/IPR with that account. And that was the reason people were asking us to add BIN to auctions - they bid, were blocked and know that they can still BIN."
From what you said you're not sure if a person who was auto-blocked for too many strikes can still BIN/IPR.
We asked because most people asking us to add BIN to an auction were already being auto-blocked by 'buyer requirements' [BBL] from bidding on our item for too many strikes.
Best part, two were already on our manually added 'block buyer' list, meaning one of our IDs had a problem with them before.

·1 year agoThey do receive a message when they try to bid. They can check the resolution center on their my eBay page. There was a time when they could still buy a buy it now if it was set to require payment right away. That may have changed as it was years ago.

·1 year agoNo, customers that meet whatever criteria you've set cannot buy from you, period. BIN or Auction style doesn't matter.
