I was just wondering if anyone has had funds held payments they were paid for a item?
I sold on Ebay late 90s early 2000s 100% feedback it was more or less a hobby back than I took a long break from it I came down with MS long story short ..I came back maybe 5 weeks thought I'd sale a few thing to help me with my so I listed 9 items. My first item sold buy it now soon as I listed it buyer paid right than very fast .I got a email from Ebay saying your funds are on hold till item is shipped..I thought what ? I contacted Ebay told them what happened they said we'll we are building a level of trust so I shipped with tracking. No attempt was made to pay me my funds out my very first item so I did want it to be a nice transaction. I tracked every day it took that first shipped item almost 10 days in transmit they it was to be delivered I got a notice from USPS tracking confirmation it read package attempt to be delivered but note was left no secure place to deliver. I contacted the buyer told them what was happening never heard back from so I texted them again . Tracking confirmation confirmed your package was delivered but a note was left at your door saying no secure place to deliver I don't know what eles to do I'm just gonna refund you and did just that 10 minutes after refund was processed and in there hands they texted me back . Oh please don't do that it wasn't your fault USPS didn't deliver or make good on their 2-3 day priority 20 minutes later tracking sent another email package was picked up at the post office in between that 20 minutes refunded funds were available to me lol 😂 8 more items were sold after that shipped with no funds available to me ..I was wondering if anyone eles had this problem??

·1 year agoWhy is everybody acting like eBay is not a place for your every day person to create an account and do exactly what the platform is intended and sell an item. Everybody is correct that eBay does say new accounts can be subject to hold, but they say it can be held. They do not say it absolutely will and they say it’s dependent on the items value. These cannot be vague terms they need to be descriptive as they are using them to hold our money and the more expensive the item the more of a need to be clear and concise with whoever uses your platform. Y’all are giving way too much leniency to a very, very, very shady part of this platform if they are trying to combat fraudulent users , then you follow the tracking. If there has been zero claims by the buyer, and the item is what it is, My money, your money, everybody’s money should be given to them. They’ve already verified our identities and verified that what we sold was delivered. End of story.

·1 year agoSelling on ebay will go much more smoothly and cause less frustration when you realize ebay writes the end of the story, not us. They have their rules, which can be rather general in nature to keep sellers from trying to circumvent these rules. The holds are temporary if you do what you are supposed to do and stay out of trouble.
Unless I misunderstood your initial post, I don't understand why you refunded your buyer that hadn't picked up their package at the post office. You are so concerned about getting your money quickly and yet you freely gave it away.

·1 year agoI did not refund anything. Sorry if my post was confusing. The item I sold was delivered on the 15th. The buyer paid for it on the eighth.
when I asked their chat bot when funds would be released. It says seven days after delivery, when I asked to be connected to an agent that gave me an option to chat with a live one which I believe is probably not true but anyway, somebody named Marko came on there and proceeded to tell me that due to the value of the item they would hold it and I would receive it on the 31st day.

·1 year agoI guess the sentences ran together & I just couldn't follow what happened. This still sounds confusing to me "... in between that 20 minutes refunded funds were available to me..."
What does that mean?

·1 year agoThis is not the OP. Different person complaining about holds. They have another thread about it, but decided to post about again on this one.

·1 year agoWelcome back. Due to illness, I left ebay for a year (2022+/-) and when I returned there were quite a few changes.
Check back here if you have any questions/ concerns, etc. Many sellers are here to help.
Ebay does not have live agents anymore, you need to request a call back.
Read up on the money back guarantee. That policy overrides a no return policy.
FYI, there is another postage increase (USPS) scheduled for Oct. 6.

·1 year agoYes, funds are held for a period of time for sellers that haven't sold for a while. Just make sure the notice to mail the item is on the eBay website and not from a random e-mail.
Also, just wanted to make sure you were aware that when you ship through eBay, that your shipping costs can be taken from the sale of the item, not from your credit card.
Welcome back to selling. I hope things go well for you. Stick with it, you seem like a very good seller.

·1 year agoIt's always good when you have a rather long message to post here to break it up into paragraphs -- makes for easier reading.
Just wanted to comment on only ONE aspect of your situation: Don't know how long you've been away from selling, but you really need to do some reading because there are things that might have changed.
For instance, all new sellers can have their funds held for up to 30 days. That's one of the things that's explained in the information for new sellers.
You need to get acquainted with the Money Back Guarantee also.
Best of luck.

·1 year agoYou were away.
You are now considered a "new" seller.
You are now subject to payment holds like all new sellers.
P.S. Paragraphs are your friend. 😀

OP1 year agoI know I'm new but even live agents told me everyone is treated differently I could handle the 5th 6th shipped without funds but the 7th 8th 9th it started to sink in its always gonna be like this ..sorry about the long sentence I really didn't think anyone would even read it .

·1 year agoDon't know what "live agents" you spoke with; however, ALL new sellers have their funds held. eBay does state that funds can be held for up to 30 days. And, yes, it will be like this until you have a significant amount of selling experience without issues.
Again, how about doing the suggested reading?
