I was charged ad fees and I have never requested ads on any item i sell. How do I check to make sure that eBay doesn't have any other of my items on that list??
Thanks A Bunch!!

·4 months agoIf you use "sell similar" to copy another person's listing, you may have picked their promotion rate. Always a good idea to check "promotion rate" when creating your listing.
To find out which listings have promotions, to Listing, Active Listing (click on All Filters and select Promotions and See Results).

·4 months agoThis is not possible.
Promoted Listings (Standard or Advanced) are tied entirely to a seller's specific advertising account and active campaigns, not to the item's metadata. If the original seller was promoting that item at 15%, your new listing will not inherit that 15% rate.
The Original Seller's Private Info: You will never inherit their shipping accounts, sales history, or payment setups.

·4 months agoAI is often wrong. It's been reported here many times that sellers had that exact thing happen: they did a sell similar and it had the promoted listings options selected.

·4 months agoThat's strange. I'd never heard that before about sell similar. I use it all the time and have never found any of my items being promoted. I can't imagine none of them were using promotions.

·4 months agoFor the entirety of 2025, I exclusively used sell similar from other ended, sold listings believing that the success of that listing may somehow carry over to my listings, and also as a way to bring a lot of the item specifics over to my listings.
(I would still recommend that to anyone who needs the shortcut, especially on technical items, because it is easier than putting these listings together yourself. But with a caution to double check the IS.)
But I digress...like you, not once has a seller's promotional rate or settings carried over to my new listing.
It's simply not built to do that.

·4 months agoYes - I post on another platform regularly about how wrong AI is - my response above is from a previous post on yet another forum about promoted listings.
To simplify the answer, the pre-checked box isn't copying the other seller's ad campaign, even though it may appear that way - it's being placed onto the page by eBay's own listing tool defaults. It is a misconception that the data is coming from a previous seller's listing.

·4 months agoI also cannot replicate this alleged carry over, no matter how many times I try. In order for there to be any validity to this claim, it must first be doable. It is easy to find promoted listings on ebay and use the sell similar function from those promoted listings to test out the allegation. Several have tried.
It is much easier to accidentally click the promoted listings prompt in active listing view, especially from the ebay app - in my experience with this topic, this is often discovered after the item is listed, not while in the listing tool, which points to an accidental launch of a promotion.

·4 months agoAbsolutely correct – and thanks for trying. Promotional rates from other sellers do not carryover on a sell similar. They would carryover if you were selling similar from one of your own listings, but not from someone else.

·4 months agoI accidentally promoted an item a few months ago while dropping and fumbling to catch my phone - this is a true story.

Go to your Manage active listings page and scan through the Promoted Listings column.
If you don't have that column, you can add it by hitting the Customize Table link at the top right.

Weird things happen sometimes.
Glad you were able to verify it's how you want it.
