I was banned from selling on EBAY
I was banned from selling on EBAY. I have 504 positive feedbacks for the past 14 years and over 600 from the previous period in total over 20 years. I don't know the reason for the sales ban. I didn't get a precise answer about my fault. After contacting the customer service - exchanging letters, I still don't know the reason for my exclusion from EBAY. I assume that it is the cancellation of my sales to buyers from the USA. EBAY customer service does not respond at all to my statement that while I was selling goods on EBAY in the USA, a customs ban was introduced between the post office of Serbia and the post office of the USA, and that the post office of Serbia could send packages to the USA. Meanwhile, the customers from the USA immediately paid for the goods before I informed them that I could not send the goods due to a customs dispute. Of course, I immediately canceled the orders from the USA, explained what happened and returned the money. I proved this by sending the official PDF document to the customer service Serbia. That's probably it the reason. so I could contact a supervisor to look at this phone of mine and give me a specific answer.

·4 months agoYou failed to act in a timely manner when the Serbian Post Office announced they would not ship to the USA.
As a result, you cancelled orders.
You might have been able to ship by another carrier, but it would have cost you more money. You did not explore that alternative, you cancelled orders.
There are no excuses.
You earned your BBE punishment, and there is no appeal.
Good luck on your next business venture.

OP4 months agoI'm using google translator because I don't know English. I first heard about this BBE when I was banned. I didn't watch it at all and I didn't even know that BBE existed! I was only guided by logic. A customer from America bought it and paid immediately, I couldn't send him the goods, I canceled the purchase and returned the money. And what did I do wrong? Who lost some money there, is there any damage? The bans of the Serbian and USA posts are constantly changing and expanding. You're never sure what happens with those customs bans. OK, I was banned from selling. But I can't find my fault at all, that's the problem. I made an agreement with one customer and sent the goods to Canada because he had a friend there. The others had their purchases canceled. And if he paid, they got their money back. What's wrong with that? That I didn't damage someone's reputation, business policy, honesty? if I used another courier service it is expensive and no one would buy it.

·4 months agoeBay's reputation as a reliable online source gets damaged. eBay has likely done some studies and concluded that many buyers who have their purchases cancelled never come back to the site. Seeing as eBay's revenues ultimately come from buyers, this is not a good set of circumstances for eBay.

This doesn't equate with the fact that their earnings go up every year. With all the advertising appearing on eBay, not including those from sellers who pay to promote themselves, I suspect they earn a lot of money from their advertisers - not like a 30 second spot on the Stupidbowl but offering worldwide coverage which can't be cheap.
Whether eBay 'prefers' sellers or buyers is well discussed and debated here. Like 'Love & Marriage', eBay needs both to work.

If you were guided by logic, you would have read and understood the rules you needed to follow before ever beginning to sell, not tried to learn about them after it was too late. The BBE policy is clearly explained and available to view anytime, and eBay even has a site geared towards sellers who are in areas that would be affected by it: https://export.ebay.com

OP4 months agoAt the time when I started selling on ebay, computer technology was not at that level, so were language translators. And my knowledge of English was not as good as the rest, and I could not even familiarize myself with the strong rules and regulations that ebay gave. The only thing I realized was that over time, sellers fell into a worse and worse position, and commissions - stipulations with payoner bank, etc., were getting bigger. For a person from another part of the globe, where other moral laws and values rule, and ignorance of the language, it was quite normal that if a buyer buys goods and the seller cannot deliver those goods due to a change in the law in the USA, the purchase is canceled, explain to the buyer what the problem is and return the money, that is the only correct and possible move. I don't even think that there is some BBE indicator that I am violating!! but well, those are the EBAY rules that apply. I still don't feel any guilt, I'm sorry that it turned out that way, but let's move on. I still think that the sellers are less and less protected by EBAY and left to the will of the buyers. One or two years ago, a buyer from Switzerland bought me goods for 800 dollars and paid immediately. I sent the goods when he blocked my payment and gave some nonsensical reasons for it. EBAY where the first decision is canceled without any explanation and that there is nothing from the money. Epilog The buyer did not return the goods, I was left without money. And nothing. Everything happens because there are different people... maybe I should have watched that BBE...

·4 months agoSo you ask, in that message from ebay what is the real reason?
Returns for "Item Not as Described"
Buyers Opening cases for "Item Not Received"
AND - Cancellations of purchases
I can not see how it could have been any clearer, the message absolutely described to you why you are banned.
That said... I speak as a buyer who has had purchases cancelled and I can tell you it is most definitely a Bad Buyer Experience, the emotions range anywhere from mild frustration to downright anger.
Most of the things I purchase online I need them in some sort of order, often it is time sensitive and also it may be a good price so then I am waiting, only to discover days and days later that my purchase was cancelled - There are times I don't even see that email or message for weeks! Only when I start to wonder where is my item, and I look and OH !!! Surprise! The seller cancelled!
It is worse (to me) when the cancellation is for reason "Buyer Asked / Problem with buyer's address," however I can and do report those to ebay for abuse of the system when I absolutely did NOT ask and there is no problem with my address.
But if you cancel for reason "Out of Stock / Item damaged" it absolutely counts against you.

·4 months agoSo sorry to hear that this has happened to you. But as others have said - once eBay has banned you from selling then "The Book Is Closed." There is no coming back - There will be no reinstating. Just curious though, as soon as you realized that this shipping issue was happening - why would not have suspended sales & shipping to U.S. customers? You may have been able to "Stop The Bleeding" in time to save your account.

Ebay should not have banned you in my opinion.

·4 months agoYou could have 100,000 positive feedbacks and it doesn't mean a darn thing if you break the rules.
If ebay banned you, there is a reason for it, and you are banned. End of story.

From what you have provided, the problem was that your Bad Buyer Experience (BBE) rate was too high. Cancelling transaction makes a bad buyer experience. I'm sorry about this, but I'm afraid that nothing can be done about it now.
You needed to stop making sales to buyers if you could not ship items to them. The changes to the US customs/import regulations happened more than 6 months ago, on Aug 29, 2025. You continued without changing your listings for more than 7 months. Your listings were not cancelled until Apr 2, 2026.
There were two things you could have done to avoid having to cancel transactions. Doing either or both of these could have prevented you from losing your selling privilege:
A lot of sellers from Eastern Europe said that the first choice, using a different shipper would not work for them. Those sellers who used the second choice, and started listing on another eBay site, have been able to keep selling. Only those sellers who did not use either choice have been banned from selling because of this.
There's more information about the BBE here. Export sellers need to be monitoring their performance every week on the Cross Border Trading (CBT) Selling Dashboard, to make sure their BBE rate does not get too high. The system gives warnings for several weeks/months before a seller is banned from selling.
https://export.ebay.com/en/fees-regulations-policies/ebay-policies/archive/bber/
https://export.dashboard.ebay.com/
The CBT dashboard and BBE rates are evaluated only based on the sales numbers on your account. It's a statistical evaluation, where you are being compared to other sellers who do similar business. So it doesn't matter what the reasons were. There's no way to appeal this selling ban.
There were lots of other export sellers who had to deal with similar post office shipping bans. Those sellers have also been banned from selling, unless they could find other ways to ship, or stopped selling to buyers that they could not ship to.

·5 months agoYour problem is you were using ebay inside the US. Everyone thinks you can use ebay.com & not the closest ebay to your location. As a result, you can't ban sales to customers buying within the US on the US platform. Your canceling the orders hurt your sales metrics (customer buying experience) & you in the end shut yourself off through your actions. There is no appeal or parole. It's permanent.
Good Bye.

OP4 months agoI could not send the parcel to the buyer in the USA because at that moment the postal traffic for parcels between the post of Serbia and the USA was interrupted. The post of Serbia did not want to receive the parcel because the USA would return it. and the buyer immediately paid. regardless of the fact that I immediately canceled the purchase and returned the money, it was recorded as a big minus. EBAY is not interested in that, it is important that they take money from the commission.
jonathanbrightlight
·4 months agoAnd that is not something eBay will allow to continue. You had an order, you canceled it. That is all eBay cares about, because it is a Bad Buyer Experience.
They do not keep your fees when you refund a buyer, either, so that part is just nonsense.

For whatever reason, ebay never divulges the exact circumstance for banning a member. As @kensgiftshop noted, if you've been banned for BBE (bad buyer experience), it's game over and they won't reinstate you. I'm sorry.
grann-4629
·4 months ago... ebay never divulges the exact circumstance for banning ...
They do it for 'security' reasons. If it ever got out, you would tell 2 people, they would 2 people and on and on it goes until everybody knows.
Sorry, but for this reason, you're pooched.

You'll need to find another place to sell your items.

OP5 months agoThe last email I sent
Again, you answered me in a general way without looking at the case in detail. You wrote:
1. Item Not Received (“INR”) rate: the percentage of transactions where a buyer reported that the item did not arrive or was not available for collection.
Give me the case of my sale to which this first point refers. There is no such sale
2. Significantly Not as Described ("SNAD") rate: the percentage of transactions where a buyer returned an item and gave a return reason "Item Not as Described", including (a) "Doesn't work or defective" (b) "Doesn't match description or photos" (c) "Wrong item sent" (d) "Missing parts or pieces" (e) "Arrived damaged" (f) "Doesn't seem authentic" (g) "Doesn't fit my vehicle".
Give me the case of my sale to which this second point refers. There is no such sale

3.. Seller fault unfulfilled rate: the percentage of transactions where a seller canceled a transaction because they no longer had the item, or the item was never shipped due to their act or omission, and the buyer's money was returned
I have already stated in previous emails and this has already become tiresome because obviously no one reads this. But again. Due to some customs regulations that Trump introduced, it is also impossible for the country of Serbia - it is forbidden to send parcels from Serbia to the USA, at least for now. Letters can go, but parcels cannot. And what happens: a customer from the USA buys from me on EBAY and pays immediately, thus preventing me from sending him an email informing him that I cannot send him the purchased goods in the USA. And then I have to cancel the sale and then return the money to him only because the Serbian Post won't accept the package for the USA. Not for the reasons you mention in point 3!!!! In support of that, I am sending you a PDF official document of the Post of Serbia where there is a list of countries where it is possible to send parcels and where it is not!!! And instead of someone literate understanding this and understanding that I am not at all to blame for the customs policy of the USA and SERBIA!!! I could not send a parcel to the USA, it is forbidden on the post of Serbia!!!! GET IT!!!
I would like your answer to be without those sweet-talking phrases you bombarded me with in these letters, but concrete and clear. So if these answers were made by artificial intelligence, they would be more specific in style: you sold the goods on that date, then you canceled the sale and returned the money - why? Or any other reason from points 1 and 2. I am sending you the official PDF document again, where you can see which countries the package cannot be sent to. And let one of your managers look at this letter, I guess he will understand the problem and the dispute.
