I sold an item after accepting an offer from another buyer. Did I fail?
An item had a best offer in play to several watchers (I think because I can't recreate that sequence). I did accept an offer but a day or so later I received payment at my previous best offer rate and I sold and shipped it. Now the person whose offer I accepted is trying to buy it and it's gone. Did I fail? I can't find a direct answer except that there are 4 days to pay. Does that apply here? Please advise.
Thank you.

·2 years agoThe first person who pays is the one who gets it. If you sent an offer and they didn't pay, the item is still for sale. They need to accept the offer (which is usually simultaneous for making payment). I've sometimes sent offers and the item sold to someone else for full price. Nothing you can do, the early bird gets the worm.

Nope. You did fine. Who ever pays for it first is the customer.

·2 years agoThat will be a learning curve for both you and the buyer that lost out. It's first come, first serve when there are offers on the table. Don't fret, you did fine. I wouldn't wait four days for payment if someone else paid first. The first buyer should have sent you a message saying it would be a day or two until payment was sent. Life is full of little trade-offs and this time one buyer was a bit lax in communication.

·2 years agoIf someone else pays first, it's Game Over. Accepting an offer if the payment-required option is not in effect does not take the item off the table for other buyers, so if someone else pays first, then they are the ones who get the item, and the previously-accepted (but unpaid) deal goes away.

·2 years agoIf I heard from the first buyer there was a slight delay in payment, I would explain if someone else comes along and pays, it's theirs. That's what I was saying in the above statement. If they decide not to communicate, that's on them. Whoever pays gets it.
Offers are a first come first served thing. The first buyer to pay wins.
