I scammed by a buyer and ebay, the F.B.I and the local police do not care. I don't know what to do!
So here is an interesting thing that can happen. When you sell an item to someone, the buyer can delete their profile and banking information right after you ship the item!
This is what happened to me and the customer service rep had never seen it happen before. I got the notification from the phone app that the buyer paid, my account had a payment pending. Then as soon as I marked it shipped, the profile is gone and it turns out the banking information was fraudulent. No money was transferred but the system shows the buyer paid with money that doesn't exist.
I tried to stop the shipment but USPS told me it was already delivered to the buyer who signed for it. I thought, "okay, I'll call the cops!"
Since the buyer is in a different state than me, the police who could physically arrest the person who signed for the package (I have a name and an address. The address is at warehouse with secuirty cameras so the person who signed for the package will be on camera) don't want to do anything because with a crime like this it "technically" happened in my state. I would need to call my local police.
I called my local police and they told me to call the F.B.I. My local F.B.I doesn't care because even though it is a crime that crossed state lines, they don't have the manpower to look into it. I filled out a report to ic3.gov which I don't have a reference number so I might as well be farting in the wind.
Called my local police again, and then they told to call ebay back because they can't drive the 2 thousand miles to buyer's address.
I am completely **bleep**.
The item I sold was expensive and the scammer used a glitch in eBay's system to get away with it. eBay says according to their system, the item was paid for even though no money was exchanged. They can't reach out to the buyer because the profile no longer exists. They have just shrugged the shoulders and charged me a fee for selling the item.
I am beyond **bleep**. I want to sue everybody but I don't have the money because I never got paid.
Just to let everyone on here know, you can't count on the justice department or eBay to have your back.

·4 years agoThe most expensive item you sold was for $75 shipped. Did you actually call the FBI for that theft? Even if the police would have went to the person's house they would not have arrested him. You are asking a lot for law enforcement to deal with as this is not a physical thing. Your best bet in this situation is to take the person to court. You will have to file in that persons state and bring all your evidence.

OP4 years agoIt wasn't the $75 item. That buyer was good and I had no problems. I thought the rules for the forum was to hide certain details like that.
I am exploring the option of getting a lawyer. Will update if anyone cares.

·4 years agoSo the item you sold and called the FBI about was even less than the $75 item. Sorry but the FBI has more important things to do then track down a theft under $75.

·1 year agoA $75 crime across state wires opens doors for RICO charges , that's not a big enough crime? Lol leads to trafficking, drugs, gangs, FBI just needs a way in the door, no crime is too small...when there is a cockroach..there are more.. infestations...so there is no such thing as a small crime when it involves wire transfers, and probably criminal employees in eBay stealing credit card info etc...but hey maybe we don't need FBI anymore, they lost their way...Time to end FBI funding...they think theft up to a 1000 in California is perfectly fine lol ..
