I Reported eBay to the BBB. Sales Have Tanked.
I am using a different user ID but I am a seller, have been for years. My sales were kicking butt recently until about a week ago. I reported eBay to the BBB AFTER trying to work with them on their OWN policy inaccuracies. They removed multiple listings of mine for supposed policy violations for a period of months. My items ARE allowed on their site, according to their policies. I and the few reps I spoke with could not figure out WHY they kept removing them. Getting no satisfaction from eBay, I reported them. There is an outstanding complaint against them, filed by me. Now my sales have quite literally fallen off a cliff. Did not slowly roll down the hill, just jumped off. Listing the same items I have been, nothing different. Does anyone believe they are retaliating? Hiding my items? Also next to no views on once popular items.

I didn't see the removed listings however the one pair of VS panties in the listing you ended today seems to be a listing that ebay didn't catch but it tells a story of why your sales have tanked. Multiple removals knocked your listings.
Preowned panties aren't allowed.

·2 years agoMaybe – but maybe not for the reason you think. I think, if your items are being hidden, it is because of repeated supposed policy violations. It certainly isn’t about being reported to the Better Business Bureau. eBay couldnt care less.

eBay's policy enforcement has never been comprehensive, accurate or timely. I suspect eBay customer support has no insight into why an item is removed by an automated system, and I doubt they have the ability to "shield" a listing from being removed by the automated systems.

The fact that your items are not prohibited by policy does not mean eBay must allow them to be listed them on their site.
Perhaps you overlooked the part of the user agreement where you acknowledge that eBay can remove any listing at any time for any reason:
"we reserve the right to refuse, modify, or terminate all or part of our Services to anyone for any reason at our discretion"

So given that you acknowledged that eBay can take any listing down for any reason any time they want, what exactly did you "report" them for?

·2 years agoI haven't got that far yet! I'm even still struggling over the branding, "Cyber Briefs" or "Robo Drawers" are at the top two presently. Of course there are some significant adjustments to walking style and gait. I never had so many women in the grocery store checkin' me out! Wow! The only other problem is right turns while driving, tend to almost tip over but that's fixable. Right now I just put a belt around my neck and pinch it the window.

My guess is eBay has lots of claims made towards them from lots of other sellers. I would be willing to bet it's in the thousands if not more. I don't think eBay is retaliating against you. It is your right to file a complaint, however eBay may have not even been notified concerning your complaint. I just think it might be a slow month for many. Hang in there. Sorry for your situation.

·2 years agoYour sales have more than likely tanked due to all of the policy violations you have received (justified or not).
You had items removed, relisting them and getting them removed again is putting your account at risk. You are being placed lower in search due to all of the violations.
If you have an item removed you should NEVER list it on ebay again (EVER). I have had items unjustly removed over the years and I just move them to another site. The most recent one from a couple/few years ago I appealed and won but I still did not relist it on ebay, even though I got a letter of apology and stating that I could relist it.

Are you seeing others because they haven't been caught yet?
Some sellers need permission to sell certain items and eBay is no longer taking
applications.
You're selling a firearm part but didn't describe the model and type of gun it's for.
Your listing offers world wide shipping but it's not allowed in the International mail.
You're listing a digital item in the wrong format.
Your item isn't authentic.
These are just a few reasons for a take down.
What policy or item was prohibited?
Here's the bad news. Basically you're spitting against the win. There's nothing to resolve. It was removed. End of story. When a listing is removed you are not supposed to relist it unless you have written permission.

·2 years agoWhy would ebay not just shut you down if that was the case. You do not have a right to sell on ebay. If ebay did not want you selling on ebay you would not be.

No. You can verify that for yourself by simply logging out and then searching to find your items. They will be there.

·2 years agoMore likely your EBAY store was flagged for repeated listing violations (whether they are legitimate or not). I wouldn't waste your energy trying to convince EBAY customer service your items are okay to list. EBAY customer service doesn't have any authority to solve your problem. EBAY bots are the ones making the decisions to delete listings. Once bots find violations your account will be watched more closely.

I know the BBB doesn't necessarily penalize companies but I wanted to reach someone at eBay who might help and a complaint that is not resolved shows as just that, not resolved. I received 3 total responses after filing my complaint. But it is still open.

I sell vintage lingerie and panties. They removed my panties that are NWOT and a couple NWT saying vintage panties are not allowed. Yet they have a category for them and we, as sellers, have the option to choose NWT or NWOT when listing them.

Multiple policy violations hitting your account are what's causing your search demotion; not the BBB complaints.

·2 years agoHighly unlikely. BBB have zero enforcement abilities and a complaint would hurt them about as much as a mouse fart would slow down the spin of the earth.
And back in the day when they DID get into retribution, they sent you nasty objects in the mail.

·2 years agoHow would ebay even KNOW who you are? BBB does nothing; says nothing; tells no one and well...
you would have WAY MORE 'stuff' happening to ebay' if you would have just jotted a note and pasted on the brick wall down the street.
But..if BBB were something, them 'removing' your items is ZERO grounds for you to 'file a complaint'. It is THIER website and there was SOMETHING about the things you were listing or they (their 'system' 'AI' 'Bots') would NOT have removed them.
After all, this place gets paid when you sell, so they would have ZERO reason to NOT allow you to sell things unless there's an issue.

They absolutely know who I am! I received a response through the BBB from someone from eBay named Jessica who LOOKED at my listings and mentioned my item numbers and items sold.

·2 years ago@corazo1282 I NEVER said they 'wouldn't know who you were' , I was talking about ebay and NOT BBB (was very short and clear) or that they (BBB) were NOT a 'real entity'- but they have the TEETH of a Brick Wall- they have NO POWER to do anything and have about 10,000,000 'complaints' on file that overall are designed to make people like you feel warm and fuzzy.
But, what you are complaining about is NOT something that is even an issue for an entity to get involved with, IF they could.
