i listed an item of another seller someone bought from me now he needs to return it? see description
A week ago, I published an ad for a product offered on another seller’s account on eBay, and I put it at a higher price. Someone bought from me, so I bought from the original merchant and put the address of the buyer who bought from me.
Now the buyer wants to return the product to me, what should I do?
How do I coordinate a return? And return the money?
Yes, I discovered that such a process is not acceptable on eBay, so I am requesting a solution now without causing problems

·2 years agoFile a return with the original seller, citing the identical reason they provided to you. As they generated the initial shipping label, the product will be returned to their address. If feasible, promptly refund the buyer to maintain a positive experience. Then, await the original seller's refund once they receive the returned item and process it.

·2 years agoReal question: Do you want legit advice or do you not want to hear anything that isn't going to give you a way to game the system?
You were warned off this method of selling a month ago (link), but it appears you ignored that advice.
You say your intentions are good, however your history of questions on this forum indicates a desire to take shortcuts in attempt to "get rich quick" so to speak. The shortcuts you've presented are largely violations of eBay policy, and in some cases violation of the law.
If your intent is to game the system, you will constantly find advice on this forum that warns you off such practices. People around here are anti-scammer, whether that scammer is a buyer or a seller. There is a scam element to a lot of the questions you've asked.
If your intentions really are good, then I suggest taking the advice that's been offered here by experienced sellers rather than shortcuts that have been offered elsewhere by actual scammers.

You are trying to not have to be out any money. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen.
You listed an item you didn't have. When it sold you then bought it from a seller in Germany and gave that seller a false address. (The address of your buyer in Germany)
Now your buyer wants to send it back for a refund. Major problem since your buyer needs to send it back to you, supposedly you are in the USA, and not the seller you bought it from in Germany.
You are going to have to do 1 of 2 things.
1. Refund your buyer in full out of the funds they paid you and let them keep the item. (Your Best Choice)
2 Tell the buyer to return the item to you. You will have to provide either a shipping label or shipping money to your buyer to pay for the label since they are in Germany to send it back to you in the USA + you will have to refund there original purchase and shipping. (Bad Choice)
Then if you do receive the item back to you in the USA, you could then ask the seller you bought it from to return it back to Germany, but with only a 30 day window from the date you purchased I don't think you will have the time to actually do that.
You need to just accept responsibility for the mess you created, refund your buyer in full, and move on taking this as a learning experience of what not to do selling on eBay. The seller you bought the item from should not have to deal with any of this mess at all that you created.

OP2 years agoOriginal seller is big and top rated so i am sure they sent the item i purchased but my buyer is not satisfied and he doesn't need it.
what if i request a return from my seller then get shipping label send to my buyer to ship it back to my seller directly without passing it to me as i live in a different country and i don't have an address in the country where my buyer and my seller live
why not to ask my seller a return and print shipping label send to my buyer to ship the item back to me which my address is my seller address in this case so we can have the item fully returned and i get refunded then refund my buyer what do you think?
my seller doesn't know my address he only considers my address which is actually my buyer address you understand?
so if i request a return from my seller then ask my buyer to return won't that work?

·2 years agoDoes this have anything to do with the question you asked at the end of March?
Assume we have a large seller,( X), who owns inventory and selling on eBay
Also we have a small seller, (Y), who does drop shipping, using the larger seller with inventory as a source
(Y) lists items of which (X) has many of it and if a customer (Z) buys from (Y) , he purchases from (X) and ships directly to customer (Z) by adding customer (Z) address while purchasing from Seller (X) and so on.
Now let us assume that (X) discovered that listing and he is not happy about being used as a bridge and decided to stop this process.
So he bought from (Y) in order to disrupt what he is doing?
Now the (Y) will obtain the address of (X), who is essentially the original seller, so how will this dilemma be solved?
Now address of buyer (X) is same as seller (X) how would tracking workout and how would (Y) protect himself when (X) opens a case against him since eBay allows drop shipping?

So what? You, however, are some shady seller who is trying to get away with unsavory activities. Save yourself: REFUND the buyer now out of YOUR MONEY, and don't engage is this sort of activity again. What you have done is wrong, you were caught at it, and now is the time to MAN UP and OWN IT, not try to scam your way out.

Buyer bought from you, you bought from someone else and used your buyers address as yours.
My understanding of this fiasco is that now buyer wants to return.
Have your buyer open a return request, then accept said request and refund immediately. Buyer will keep item and the money.
Could tell you not to do this on eBay, but it seems many have already stated this. It’s not good and will be a lose/lose situation for you.
albertabrightalberta
·2 years ago@dakdak
In this case, because of your actions, I think you should just issue a full refund to the buyer telling them that you're sorry they aren't happy with the item. (Don't try to finagle a way to get it returned to you.)
Use the loss as the price of an education. Don't list and sell anything else until you read and understand the rules.

·2 years agoYou posted several times and seemed to pass over the details.
There is only one way to handle this:
Your buyer requested a return.
You have the option to have him return the item to you.
Or you can refund him without requesting a return.
When (and if) you get the item back from your buyer, you may be able to request a return from the seller you purchased from.
You cannot ask/force the seller you purchased from to accept a return from a buyer that purchased from you.
Pretend that the seller you purchased from is not involved in the transaction.
It is between you and your buyer.
Once you get the item back from your buyer, you may have options to request a return from your seller.
I'm guessing you now understand the problem with this type of transaction and why eBay prohibits this.

·2 years agoOr he could be gaming out how it would work if he did decide to do this kind of selling. If so, it is a bad, bad idea. So many ways this could go wrong.
Several years ago there was a buyer on an auction site I used who would bid on very expensive and sought after items. Items where the bidding could end around $250,000 for example. Then on eBay he would list the same exact items using the auction's pictures. On eBay he would list if for say $350,000 and tell the buyers there would be a 15 day delay in the shipping.
That was of course to get the payment from the buyer, use it to pay off the auction and then ship to his eBay buyer. It did not end well most of the time. He had several negatives with people complaining he did not have the items because lots of times the bidding went way above what he listed it on eBay. On the auction site several sellers banned him from bidding on their auctions.
Also the eBay returns could not be completed because whenever there was a return he could not come up with all the money because of the shipping and buyers premium charge by the auction. All in his negative feedback. I followed his account through several negatives until one day his account disappeared from eBay, banned I guess. He thought he came up with the perfect plan to make a fortune on eBay, but it just proved when you engage in stuff like this, everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

From the policy: However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay.

·2 years agoI will tell, with no "aggression" that there is no solution where you will not pay for your grave mistake. If the buyer files a return, the return address will be the real seller, the person who actually had the item in the first place and did the work of packing it and shipping it. -They will get the item back with no idea why, and you will refund the money to the buyer.

·2 years ago@dakbat-61 You need to comprehend that you made a bad choice and take the loss. Issue a refund to the buyer without requesting they return for the easiest solution. ·2 years agoNo one (including me) is attacking you. I'm just clarifying that what the OP did was not any form of drop shipping (which eBay allows, per the link that you provided), but retail arbitrage, what eBay is describing as not allowed (in the quote that you provided).
The OP is not supposed to be listing someone else's item, then running around to buy it at retail and ship it directly to his buyer. It doesn't matter if the item he lists (but doesn't have) belongs to another seller here, or if he's ordering it from someplace like Walmart or Home Depot.
It would be good if we all just stopped calling this drop shipping, because it isn't.

·2 years agoIf you purchased the item from an eBay seller, you can return it to that seller if they offer returns.
However, You have muddled the transaction by purchasing an item from someone else. You have no idea what they sent or what the buyer actually received.
Sometimes learning a lesson has consequences. In this case, you may have lost a bit of money.
Once you get the item back, just put it up for sale on eBay, but not until you have it in hand.

but i have a question
my seller doesn't know my address he only considers my address which is actually my buyer address you understand?
so if i request a return from my seller then ask my buyer to return won't that work?
slati_2013
·2 years agoWow, you have dug yourself quite a hole here. I think in this case you are going to have to come up with the shipping because as far as eBay is concerned you are the buyer. They buyer will send it back to you. Then you send open a return with the seller. But since you do not live in the same country, I don't know how this is going to work.
Is this a really expensive item? If not I would say just take it a a learning experience and avoid it in the future. The logistics of this return is going to be very daunting and complicated. It would need the buyer to buy in. The buyer gets his money if the item gets to you. If he cannot prove he sent it to you, he does not get his money back. As far as the seller and eBay are concerned, you are the buyer. Any return has to come from you.
But don't go with with I have written. I am confused myself. Someone else might have a plan.

dakbat-61
OP2 years agoyou do NOT try to return it to the person you tried to use as a dropshipper.
why???
steady2304
·2 years agoNo. Here's the problem with that. For you to return the item to the person you bought it from you would have to get the item back from the buyer you sold it to first.
If your buyer sends it back to the person you bought it from you can't do that.
Your seller knows what you did and it seems so does your buyer. I doubt either one would be willing to go along with your scam.
Your seller doesn't have to refund your buyer if they return the item to them, since they didn't receive the payment from your buyer you did.
If your buyer returns the item to your seller, then you don't have any way of returning the item back to your seller to get your money back from the seller you bought it from.
You are the only one who is going to lose in this situation because your buyer will be refunded by eBay from your funds if you don't voluntarily refund them and eBay has to step in and your seller will possibly get the item back from your buyer, but they won't have to worry about refunding you because you can't ship something back you don't have to them.
Either way you lose. Cut your losses now and just accept the facts and move on. This is why this type of transaction is banned on eBay.
