I just have to share this
I Had a Kiss CD with booklet signed by Ace Frehley, it's been listed for almost 4 years. Today, I get 2 offers within minutes from 2 buyers, one in Florida and the other from Indiana, the offers were for $50 from both on a $79 priced item. I was a little suspicious because the offers were for the same amount and came at the same time. I countered both for $60, two minutes after I countered, I get an email it sold, so I wanted to see who accepted the offer, but it was a new account created today by a different person, so I got more suspicious. then, I Googled Ace Frehley to find out he died today 10/16/25.

·10 months agoYes, you should have stuck to your original price but I can see if you didn't know he passed. We are at the age when our hero's will pass on so hang on to those signed mementos if you can. It was a sudden incident. I heard he had a stroke then the next thing a friend told me he died. Sad loss for the Rock Community. Fly high Space Ace.

I was a huge Rolling Stones fan for a significant part of my silly life, and collected some items (and there is a lot to collect)
I used to have a few of the higher end items up for sale, but pulled them off after a few months, and if/when God forbid a member passes,
I will not then re-list these items, unless I need food money, never say never, but…
It will be tough going when we witness the artists we loved in our youth pass away.

·10 months agoI'm still a HUGE Rolling Stones fan and it was sad to see Charlie go. I have to admit, though, that the artist I was most upset about this year was Bobby Sherman. He was the love of my life when I was 12. LOL

I'm a die-hard Rolling Stones fan with a nice collection of vintage records. They're staying put for now – unless another band member passes, and even then, I'll think twice. I think these guys are going to outlive me!

You get used to it. My better half told her brother that I only like musicians, actors/actresses that are dead.
She's about half right. I have Stones performances in my music library. Lots of live Little Feat and others.
David Nelson of New Riders of the Purple Sage passed in 2011 and that made me sad. I'm glad I have lots of his live stuff...............................

·10 months agoI inherited a large estate from my parents. My mother was a serious doll collector and she knew Shirley Temple.
I had it all . From letters from her to my mom, autographed books, dolls of every variety from antique to modern. Stacks of Shirley Temple, doll collector club monthly newsletters. Every magazine you can imagine that had Shirley Temple in it, Play sets, Plates, cups, silverware sets, etc. I’m sure you get the point.
I had listed a lot of it and woke up one morning to find it at all sold. I called my husband, and I said “somebody’s messing with me, This stuff’s been listed for months and months “. He laughed, “didn’t you hear? Shirley Temple passed away last night “ Kinda sad but that’s how it goes.
So I concentrated on listing the rest of it and sold all of it.
I did keep one doll, it’s a 3 foot tall original Shirley Temple and I have a picture of my mom when she was five or six years old standing all bundled up In the snow holding that doll.

·10 months agoI had a Shirley Temple doll from when I was a kid. I threw it out last year because I was downsizing but I played with it all the time as a kid. She no longer had curls. It was more of a matted mess and she just had a baby doll outfit on it, no original anything. She was a hot mess and not a collectible item, but boy did I love that doll and Shirley!

·10 months agoNot sure why this brings up a memory for me but some years ago JK Rowling was revealed to be the author Robert Galbraith. I immediately ordered some of "his" books from an ebay seller but they were cancelled. I don't remember but I think they had a bump up in price. Obviously the seller thought of the same thing.

·10 months agoYou have a bagz for sale and you need to add Ace's name into your title as it will sell if you do. The way you have it now, no one will find it. I'd bet there is a lot of Kiss stuff on eBay and if you don't have the key words in your title - You will loose sales every time..

·10 months agoIn the Sports Card Hobby it's referred to as the Koby Effect. The day Koby passed almost every card of his on eBay sold within 24 hours. It happens every time someone passes away. You should have not discounted your Ace autograph as they will easily sell for 150.00 or more by the weekend. Who ever you sold it to will be reselling later, I'm sure. Hulk Hogan was huge a couple months ago. Its morbid but it is what it is.

I didn't discount it, I had it listed for $79 and sold for $79 before any counteroffers were accepted.
It should be a lesson for those who try to Nickle and dime sellers that there are people out there that will buy at listed price.

You are 100% right. My point exactly. Lowest price isn't necessary if you have a quality piece and provide good service. People will pay for something they really want. The 2 that offered you less weren't there to do you any favors or looking to truly help you. It was all about them. Glad you got what you wanted for it. I checked and signed albums and CD's are priced several hundred dollars and more now. Let them see if they can get any of those people to come down to your price. It won't happen.
But no sweat as they didn't really want to BUY it - They didn't want to Own it. They wanted to make money off it.

·10 months agoI had someone once tell me he was doing me a favour by taking some currency "off my hands" at 50% FV. I pointed out that if it doesn't sell for profit (which is my intent in selling UNC and circulated banknotes), that I would take it back to that country and use it there. (In reality I might just take it to the foreign exchange next time I'm at the airport... the point is it's not a favour selling it at a discount unless I'm doing a favour for the buyer by letting them have it at half price).

We’ve had that type of situation come up before when someone died and we had signed items listed. The last time I’m thinking of, in fact, someone actually bought something signed by someone who ended up dying just a few hours later, though, instead of just after it happened. That was weird, but I’m sure just coincidence (and if that person decided to then resell it, it would have ended up being worth far more than they paid for it).

·10 months agoI was sitting at work one day in 2022 when all of a sudden Queen Elizabeth II merchandise became extremely popular in the afternoon. I couldn't understand why in an hour I had sold 5 things to do with QEII (not necessarily expensive things, just random things). And then my co-worker said "did you hear, the Queen died today". And I said "so that's why everyone is buying QEII stuff from me right now". (I liked having the sales but did not want people to think I happy that our Queen for the past 70 years had passed away... well she was really old). The popularity on the items only lasted a couple of weeks. Selling a lot of Canadian, British and Australian stuff, I had lots of QEII merchandise in my store.
I had other similar items become super popular after a disaster of sorts... I had Maui Trade dollars that sold after the fire, Jasper postcards that sold right after that fire, and sometimes stuff sells when a country is in the news. I don't raise my prices in the wake of tragedy, so I sell out of stuff pretty quickly if it becomes popular.

Is it worth the hassle of selling / shipping it out with the chance of the bottle breaking during shipping ?
As for your sale.. Print up the shipping label / ship it out and congrats on the sale ...
