I Hate Bid Sniping
I hate when people bid snipe and I think something should be done, such as a concept where when an item is bid on in the last minute it extends the bid by 5 minutes or something.

·3 years agoMost other auction sites use a soft close - bidding is extended for a specified period of time whenever there is a bid within a specified period of time before the auction ends. For instance, Proxibid I think has two minutes. If a bid is made in the last two minutes, it's extended another two minutes. This is basically the same method as live auctions. I think Ebay has been seriously short changing itself and its sellers by not moving to an all in all done format.

·3 years agoEBay completely removes the auction part (people bidding against one another for an item, the escalation benefitting both the seller AND EBay) by allowing bid sniping. There should be an automatic 5 minute extension on any auction where there is a last-second sniping attempt. Again, this would benefit BOTH the seller AND EBay (which collects higher fees when bidding goes up).

·3 years agoWhy would eBay change their system for a small percentage of bidders who don’t bid enough to win within the time offered?
The extended bid system came about because these sites wanted to have auctions, but couldn’t do it because eBay’s programming is proprietary.
Those who like the “bid till you’re the last one standing†will find those sites and be happy there.
Here, bid once, bid your maximum and bid as late as possible because there may not be time to react to all the last second bids.
