I guess for the items I sell, it’s a long game.
I do know there are ways to research what sells fast ….With that said, I take pleasure in sourcing and crafting items I like.
It has been just over a week for me and I’ve made a few sales. My views aren’t very good at all.
I don’t depend upon this as income so I’m just going to keep listing and I’ll assume with my category of items, sales won’t be determined by views but the right buyer stumbling upon it. (Spontaneous)
when I did this 8 years ago, the forum here was the same…..EBAY is dead, sales are down, etc. I’ll just assume this is always the sentiment here?
I know I’m choosing a harder path and that is ok with me. I have to enjoy my items to spend my time photographing, listing, and shipping them.

·1 year agoI too am back selling and am not doing it to rely on for income, I had jewelry that has been in my collection for a while and chose to start selling again, I have done ok so far but now I realize that there are so many here selling the same thing that my listings have very few views if any, so I am in no hurry ,if something sells good if not oh well, I will stick around, but be aware of this that ebay will not be seller friendly in cases of scammers trying to rip you off, I have had that happen to me in less than a month.

·1 year agoI don't think collecting has ever stopped, it just changes. I've said this before, but some of us also have the collecting habits of a couple of previous generations dropped into our laps and where do we find room for this stuff we'll never use? I'm trying to get rid of it but there's so much of these sorts of things around it's hard to sell it, and I'm trying to get rid of my own stuff (which is mostly books).
But hey, I knew a guy back in the day who had 260 pedal cars, and a neighbour who filled his house with pinball machines.

OP1 year agoI know that is is true the younger generation is into minimalism. My son lives like a monk in terms of bare minimum home furnishings, BUT he will spend on game cards and items surrounding his card game play.
I think there should be enough middle income Americans that still value the items we all grew up with to attract buyers. Those buyers, too, tend to have discretionary income. Probably (although untested by me) less likely to be problematic return buyers, too.

Want items ALWAYS lead sales.
In rough economic times, Need items sales increase
But never, never, never have Need item sales surpassed Want item sales.
No matter how bad the economy, if somebody wants something bad enough, they'll figure out a way to buy it.
And during the same times, if they really need something, they'll cry and complain about it and do without as long as possible

·1 year agoIt is my worst week of the month in my worst week of the year.
Last year at this time was also weak.
For many sellers like myself, there are peaks and valleys. It helps to know when to expect a valley, and to know what your buyers are like and how the calendar, the economy, politics and the news in general affect their buying behavior.
It is good that you are not panicing, there will be plenty of time for panic in the future.

·1 year agoYep, and grinching about the same "reasons", too.
If you don't depend on the income, then think about how you're spending your time - that's a precious commodity: Would you rather spend it doing something that's OK-enough and make more money maybe, or spend it doing something you really enjoy and still make money? I know I'd choose the latter.

·1 year agoYou have some nice items but collectibles are getting harder to sell. The younger generation does not have any interest in old collectibles like figurines etc.

·1 year agoIt's getting harder to sell more contemporary collectibles as well, Younger people do not like clutter & they feel these item's only clutter their home & I don't think they have the patience for dusting!

·1 year agoNot true. Younger people absolutely do collect-- I just shipped out 3 collectibles popular with younger buyers today.
They just don't collect the same things that older buyers do.

·1 year agoWell at this point the dollars per month/per square foot of rental property is so expensive that just basic furniture and useful items already "clutter" the small spaces they have to live in!

·1 year agoIf you Google the question 'what percentage of consumers have maxed out their credit cards' you will learn from multiple sources that about half the consumers are carrying a credit card debt. A little less than 20% are actually maxed out.

·1 year agoIt has nothing to do with 'trusting' Google and everything to do with researching claims you hear to determine for yourself whether they are likely accurate. It took only a few minutes to learn from multiple sources that the 70% maxed-out claim you heard was nonsense. Just out of curiosity - where did you hear that?

So maybe use Google instead of drinking the Kool Aid on Newsmax or FOX. And Biden does not appear to be hiding, but now that he has dropped out of the race he is no longer campaigning.
