I found an unbelievable seller
I stumbled across a seller because of an item i was somewhat interested in, The title had READ, which usually means there is some sort of damage, But no the item was perfectly fine, However this seller states that he sends all items no matter what in a bubble mailer., Then goes on to say your item will most likely receive damage, Dents, Dings, Breakage Or even crushed, But if you would like me to ship your item in a box with some protection you need to pay for priority shipping., WOW, It takes all kinds!, He would be opening himself up for a lot of returns, aggravated customers, I just don't get it?

I wonder if that seller thinks that the disclosure will protect him against NAD claims since he describes the possible condition items will arrive in. He's in for a surprise!

·1 year agoI would give most eBay sellers a failing grade on their packaging. With 1,400 purchases lifetime, more than 50% of my purchases have arrived with damage to the retail packaging. While the actual merchandise arrives okay, it is embarrassing to give a gift bought from eBay with mangled retail packaging.
That damage is mostly due to bubble bags. Sometimes cardboard boxes arrive without packing material to prevent the merchandise from rattling around. This is a friendly reminder that a package sorting employee can accidentally or intentionally toss a 70 LB package onto your package. A 5 gallon bottle attached to a water cooler weighs 40 pounds. Imagine the weight of 1.75 of those bottles falling 3 feet onto your package and pack accordingly.
I always use cardboard boxes with an occasional Priority Mail Padded Flat Rate Envelope reinforced with cardboard or a box inside. I have never had a buyer complain about merchandise arriving damaged in transit.

How does that $0.20 cent cost compare to a bubble mailer?

·1 year agoOh my gosh - talk about asking for trouble! I recently packed 4 soup mugs with the thought that they might be drop kicked off a cliff - so....double box and plenty of padding material - guess what 2 mugs arrived broken. So, apology to the customer, please keep the 2 that did not break and full and complete refund. And that happened with a solid packing job. In over 10 years we have refunded for breakage 2 times. Putting breakable things in a bubble mailer and telling the buyer to essentially "cross your fingers" is incredibly poor customer service.

The seller you describe sounds a lot like other sellers we are all familiar with -- the assorted misfits with mild garden variety insanity who come here to rail against eBay with huge blocks of unpunctuated and uncapitalized text, or those who respond to negative feedback with angry and insult-laden diatribes and think that they are actually helping themselves in the process.
More proof that eBay has no quality control for the seller onboarding process.

Does he think "Priority" means his package will be more carefully handled by the carrier?
Would be tempted to buy something, like a canoe or a Kitchen Aid appliance and see how he gets it into that bubble mailer.

·1 year agoI'm not that kind of person, but there must be buyers out there that would see that and make purchases just to file returns for damage to train that seller, but then again, any seller that would post such may be untrainable. There cannot be 52 cards in the deck. Sort of falls in line with the TOS stating that "once the package is accepted by the carrier, I am no longer responsible for loss/damage".

·1 year agoWell you will have sellers on Ebay who do not know how to package items and package very poorly. If this was a quality seller they would package properly and if say bubble mailers are giving them high damage rate then they should have the know it all to make changes in there shipping. They could easily purchase a box and ship Ground Advantage for a few cents more than a bubble mailer. If they prefer priority then charge priority and get it over with. Had a seller ship a glass bird feeder which I purchased in a bubble mailer. Got all smashed and damaged. It's like what did the seller think the end result would be? Ship it in a box for the same price.

A deterrent to the buyers who cannot resist sending a message telling the seller how to pack with their order.
I might enjoy listing as he did, but a lot of buyers would interpret this as @meme6253 has.

·1 year agoThese used to annoy me as a seller that would often second guess themselves on their packaging skills, until I started using eBay as a buyer and ordering from smaller sellers like myself, quickly learning compared to them, my packaging skills are quite stellar!

·1 year agoThey continue to annoy me because if the buyer read my FB they would see that my packaging is high quality and shipping speed is high quality as seen by my customers.
If we are going to be burdened by the obsolete FB system which supposedly exists solely for the benefit of the buyers, they should read some of it.
My shipments are not bulletproof, and USPS is not perfect, but my packaging exceeds the quality of the competition.
