I am the seller, Fedex just stole my shoes and I was told I may have to take the loss.
My friend wanted me to sell a pair of shoes on my ebay account since he didn't have one. I sold the pair and it was being shipped through FedEx as per usual. My friend dropped it off and got the receipt, almost 3 weeks pass and not a single scan was done on the package. The store told us that the FedEx guy picked it left and gave documentation that he in fact picked it up. We called FedEx and they would make a "case" but when we bring up case #s they would say it doesn't exist. The appeal button doesn't work for me and I called for a request to make an appeal through phone. I don't know what to do and if anyone has had a similar experience please let me know.

·3 years agoYou have a receipt for the Shipping Store that it was dropped off at. This is where I would start the claim as this is the place that provided documentation of having it. When they turned it over to FedX they should have documentation that they did this. If they can show documentation that they turned it over to FedX then you should have a valid claim with FedX, if not then your claim would be with the Shipping Store.
A package can come up missing anywhere along the route and if it has not been properly accepted it is difficult to get reimbursed.

·3 years agoI never had a problem receiving stuff from Fed Ex. I get notifications from day one when someone ships something to me. Sounds like something went wrong on day one. Notifications go to buyer on first day item gets a tracking number. And then a notification every day until item is delivered. I would check with your friend and the receipt.

Boy, this is bizarre but according to this article from the ebay team, they will have you covered.
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/We-re-partnering-with-FedEx-to-simplify-shipping-for-sneakers/ba-p/33253540
Now message these guys thru the forum and tell them what's going on.

The article I gave you has a way to view ebay issued shipping labels to the authenticator .

·3 years agoSomeone from fedex stole a $1000 phone I was sending to Google Fi. I did a package pick up request and I handed it to the fedex driver directly. The tracking never updated at all, but this is the 2nd time I had to send in a faulty phone and the last time the phone actually did arrive to Google Fi that tracking never got updated either. A fedex customer service representative on the phone confirmed that he picked it up from me and that they sometimes create a new tracking number right when it's picked up and scanned.
Fedex denied my claim in less than 24 hours. I'm lucky because Google fi stepped in and refunded me for the $1000 they charged my credit card when they didn't get the phone. But I had to fight really hard for that money and fedex was completely useless. I told Google fi to turn off the phone due to theft and to use the GPS to locate it and at that point they finally agreed to refund me.
I will never ever use fedex after that experience. Luckily I have only ever used USPS for shipping on eBay... With priority cubic and ground cubic rates on pirate ship I don't see any reason to use fedex.
When this happened to me I did some research and the horror stories out there about fedex are pretty telling about that company.

·3 years agoWhat does the tracking say?
Your 'friend' who wanted to sell the shoes, took it to Fedex?
Where EXACTLY did he take the package? To a person? Left it in a drop box?
Did you PURCHASE the shipping label through ebay?
unprogrammed
OP3 years agoI've known my friend for almost 15 or 16 years now and talk to him frequently. He took it to a shipping store near him and gave it to the person that works there. As soon as the shoes sold, ebay provided me a fedex label that I didn't have to pay for.

·3 years agoSo you missed 1 of my main questions: What does the tracking number state?
unprogrammed
OP3 years agoDELIVERY STATUS
pburn
·3 years agoOP posted, " . . . there's no scan on the tracking."
stainlessenginecovers
·3 years agoI get that; but somewhere in these posts the OP stated his 'friend took it to fedex and got a receipt'. A receipt should show it's been 'received'.
So, apparently the friend did NOT get a receipt??
kensgiftshop
·3 years agoSorry, without a FedEx acceptance scan, there' no proof FedEx ever took possession of the package.
If the buyer files an INR, you'll probably be refunding.
unprogrammed
OP3 years agoThe buyer was refunded which is totally fine but I am trying to see if either eBay or FedEx can give me my money back. I got proof it was dropped off such as receipt and documentation but there's no scan on the tracking. It's pretty frustrating so I think I might be screwed honestly.

·3 years agoThis should be your friends loss, not yours.
unprogrammed
OP3 years agoYes, he is going to give me the money back. I should have rephrased the title but I still have to deal with it since it's on my account and under my name.
a_c_green
·3 years agoSo when it was dropped off at FedEx, they did issue a receipt; is that right? Does it have the tracking number on it?
southern*sweet*tea
·3 years agoIf you have proof that the package was dropped off - the receipt from Fedex - then there is no doubt that Fedex has the package. They're the ones who lost it, so they should be responsible. Getting them to own up to that is going to be another story.
stainlessenginecovers
·3 years agoAlthough per 'tracking' per the OP; it only shows a 'label was created' so the friend really did not get a receipt as it should then show Fedex received it?
unprogrammed
OP3 years agoI have the receipt of drop off and documentation of the the delivery driver taking it.

·3 years agoIn the original post they were dropped off at fedex and the person dropping it off got a receipt. You don't get a receipt unless they weigh and scan it. I've never had it happen any different way dropping off a package at fedex, ever.
mr_lincoln
·3 years ago@unprogrammed I hate to say this but no scan means no shipment which means the Buyer will file an item not received claim and the tracking you upload will show no movement or a non-existent shipment. The net result will be you refunding the Buyer within the 4 day time limit the claim gives you.
Was the shoe box inside a brown box for shipment? Did your friend tell the FedEx clerk what was being shipped? Does carrier theft happen? Absolutely ... see the article below from a few years ago.
In all the thousands of shipments I have made over the years only 2 packages did not show up AFTER I got the carrier scan at the counter, meaning I had a receipt showing they scanned them in ... a week AFTER the original delivery dates AND after the Buyers had already left me Positive Feedback the Sold files suddenly populated with the FULL TRACKING history of the packages. The two packages in question were 2 of 4 shipped that day at the same time ... I suspect a glitch within the USPS - eBay system, maybe the API software.
In any event, I think you guys are out of luck on this one ... really sorry it happened.

A tad confusing, let's review. You sold a pair of sneakers on ebay for friend. Did the said sneakers go to be authenticated?
Now remember the down time for the holidays, blizzard, could these sneakers be in the process of being authenticated at one of the facilities like NY or Vegas?
You need to let us know if the above is true before we can assist further.
unprogrammed
OP3 years agoYes this was my friends shoe and it was sent out to be authenticated in Las Vegas. Sold on December 11th and I shipped other shoes before and after that with no issues through FedEx. Everything 100% correct as you stated.

·3 years agoDon't be so quick to point fingers. Maybe someone stole the truck or the contents within the truck. Maybe the shipping label was scraped off or caught on some machinery & your parcel is sitting quietly at some distribution center awaiting direction. Keep on trying to call FedEx Customer Service to get the lost parcel claim opened up & answer any questions that they might have for you. Unless you made your parcel completely obvious.....by saying enjoy these rare Jordans on the outside of the parcel or just used some clear tape to seal the Air Jordan box, FedEx theft is unlikely.....lost parcel is probably the most probable scenario.
Good luck!

·3 years agoKeep on trying to call FedEx Customer Service to get the lost parcel claim opened...
@714ricki
The OP, @unprogrammed , stated the label was provided through eBay. eBay is the 'shipper of record', so FedEx is likely not going to deal with anyone but eBay. There was once a special form to fill out for situations such as this with UPS or FedEx, but I am unable to find it at this point.
I would suggest that the regular foreign outsourced call center customer service reps on eBay that one gets via call back or chat will not be reliable for information needed. It may be more beneficial to use the Big Blue send message button on this page, and request some help:

OP3 years agoI will give it a try thank you.

·3 years agoFrom a financial claim, yes I agree. However the OP is the actual shipper & can definitely open up a lost parcel search even though they used the ebay generated FedEx label using the ebay account number. Doesn't hurt to try!!!
unprogrammed
OP3 years agoI have had nothing but bad experiences with FedEx before this. Everyone in my apartment complains about them and they have lost or stolen some of my packages . I've sold 100s of sneakers through USPS and UPS with no issues for years but now eBay forces us to use FedEx for shoes. It was in a regular brown box and no notes or anything but the label. It had the Vegas sneaker authentication center it so it might have been what made it obvious that it was a pair of shoes. I'll keep trying till something happens.
