I accidentally marked an item as paid when it was not paid. Please help!
I accidentally marked an item as paid when it was not paid. Now the buyer cannot pay.
There is no way to reverse this. All of the other older threads about this topic give incorrect advice. They say there is a button somewhere (in the seller hub, possibly) to make this as "unpaid" but it is nowhere to be found. Did ebay get rid of this ability?
Please tell me a way to reverse this other than contacting ebay.
Thanks!!

Thank you for understanding.

OP2 years agoSo there is no way to reverse the "mark as paid" because ebay takes their fees as soon as you press it.
You have to either cancel the order and then try to get your fees back from ebay, or call ebay directly.
No simple solution.
Thanks all for your input.

·2 years agoWow, that is amazing...oh I will contact Ebay but I have to wait about 5 hours. That is ridiculous. If you can't reverse something as trivial as this, especially when the option to mark an item off as paid, when the buyer hasn't, is so easy, and anyone can make that mistake, than I am having second thoughts about selling on Ebay.

·2 years agoAnd of course, I can not contact Ebay at this **bleep** time and will not be able to sleep until I get this resolved. Ridiculous.

My apologies.
I do see that you said you accidentally marked it as paid.
I just always wondered why it was there in the first place. I was hoping that you or somebody else who uses it might be able to enlighten me. But if you don't use it either and simply marked it as paid by mistake, i understand.
No offense intended.

OP2 years agoAs far as I can tell the only reason it’s there is because you can offer payment outside of eBay as an option, I guess, like I guess you could accept cash on pickup or something. So it’s for that. I agree there doesn’t seem to be much a need for if. Other than people like me accidentally pressing it.

·2 years agoSince it does NOT show in your payment history- the buyer is simply lying to you (regardless 'WHAT' you.
marked).

·2 years agoIs it in the pull down screen at the Top under MORE instead of to the left of the order in the hub? Sorry, on a tablet can't cut and paste.

·2 years agoI’m not sure that you are aware, but selling perfume/cologne that is less than 100% full is considered used and against eBay’s Cosmetics policy.
And if you’ve seen others selling products like that doesn’t mean it’s ok.
cologne-studio
OP2 years agoOh no? It doesn't make it okay?? 🤓

OP2 years ago@ebooksdiva Please quote the sentence that says that, because I don't see it. I think you misunderstood the policy. thanks.

OP2 years agoI stand corrected.

OP2 years agoOkay the final answer here is that you MUST call ebay. There is no way to reverse the "mark as paid" because ebay is very quick to take their fees once you've done that.

·2 years agoI believe the mark as unpaid is only available if it had been manually marked as paid, so it sounds Iike the buyer may have paid. Nothing showing in your payment summary?
cologne-studio
OP2 years agoThanks for the response @fern*wood, but I did manually mark it as paid, accidentally.
The buyer says they paid (after i accidentally marked it as paid) but nothing in my payment summary.

Go back and mark it as unpaid. I believe you can do that in the event of a mistake.
PS Don't be hostile with others here on this forum. People are just trying to help you. Calling people "Dude" is unnecessary, not to mention kinda rude.

OP2 years ago@ckmidog
Did you read his post? He clearly did not read my post and then left a snarky a comment. Talk about unnecessary. But I can't write "dude"? Okay...dude. 👌
Also please explain how he was trying to help me..
Finally, as I said in my posts, there is no "unpaid" button. You're not very helpful either lol.

Well since none of us are being helpful and you are being rather hostile, why don't you contact customer service and see if they can be more helpful. Here's the link:

See if they can give you any advice.
Happy Sales.

OP2 years agoYou tagged that guy's snarky comment as "helpful" yet you can't explain to me how it was remotely helpful and not 100% snarky? Once again, neither of you read my actual posts. Read before your respond, please.

OP2 years agoDude. Your question is "Why did you need to mark an item as paid?"
The title of my post is literally "I accidentally marked an item as paid."
Seriously?
inhawaii
·2 years agoJust curious.
Why did you need to mark an item as paid?
Under what circumstances would you need to do that?
I've never done that, ever.
When it's paid, it's paid.

·2 years agoGo to your All Orders screen
https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/?filter=status:ALL_ORDERS
Click on the Down Arrow for that transaction and then click on Mark as Unpaid
cologne-studio
OP2 years agoThat option is not there. Only "mark is shipped" is a similar option.
The buyer says they paid but the payment is not appearing in my payments.
Now what do I do?
