I’m at a loss
Scenario items were collectibles
buyer send offer on item I accept
buyer receives item and immediately opens a return stating I sent the wrong size
listing states correct size and listing was as described when pointing that out to the customer and that I wasn’t responsible for the shipping as the mistake was not on my side buyers response “wanna Bet†customer waits full thirty days ships items back last minute upon re is wing the items back they were all removed from original packaging and all my packing material gone so just looose in the box and broken so now I can’t sell the again if I wanted to. I refund half the buyers original payment as we are allowed. Fast forward to today week later and my funds get put on hold why?? Buyer states o sent wrong amount eBay takes a whopping 5 min so refund in full with out asking me anything and after I sent pictures of the damaged items for the reason of the refund. Buyer left me a bunch of threatening messages using eBay’s messaging calling me names and scammmer and fraud I turn all those in by doesn’t see the issue.
buyer leaves. Nasty comment calling names and slander (calling me a scammmer ) and how I lied on my listing not that he diddnt read it. I go to get it removed and eBay sends the request to the buyer instead of looking at it. Then get messages that they will keep tuning me in until I get banned .
Where’s my protections now 8 different instances in where he sent threating messages
a very untrue feedback not to mention the lies about the order and damaging these items to the point where I can’t sell them and what happens Nothkng not a thing. Cant even sell with out wonder what else an abisove buyer can do to make that sale horrible and have eBay pretty much blame me for all of it.
amd I can’t find a way to contact eBay to point out how mast and threating this buyer has been

·2 years agoSo basically, if a seller does what they have to (follow the rules and are qualified), then eBay can change it's mind about allowing sellers to deduct up to 50% when a seller gets screwed, so eBay doesn't have to cover the other up to 50% if a buyer complains.
Got it. Just another un-announced change sellers have to take, and lose more money to sell here. Isn't it great?!

The 50% refund privledge can definitely be revoked if it is abused or used too many times.
All the buyer has to do is appeal the 50% refund and "If they qualify" eBay refunds out of their own pocket.
That "If they qualify" is in the documents as well, though I don't feel like looking it up.....
Buyers can lose their MBG return privledges as well.

·2 years agoWe don't know if the seller lost the ability or not. What we can tell, is the buyer was busy shrieking to anyone who would listen. My bet is they got ahold of CS and that's why it was reversed at the seller's expense. Rules don't mean much when they change with the wind. Had the seller lost the ability to deduct on the refund the option would not have been there and they would have received a naughty gram from eBay. Also that they did not receive a defect, also leads me to believe this is just another incident of eBay not following it's own rules at the expense of a seller.
This stuff happens no matter if people on these boards want to openly admit it or not.
lakefor94
·2 years agoStill a lot of speculation on our parts.
Could have been that the seller lost the privledges with this particular deduction. Perhaps the seller did not follow thru with reporting the buyer.
The 50% that I did asked for photos as well.
Hell, who knows, unless the OP comes back and fills us in some and even then, we might not get the whole story.
With my seller account, if I had to do a 50% today, it would fly, no problem.

·2 years agoThere’s so many unscrupulous buyers these days. Depending on what you sell you always run a risk here. When I started selling in 2016 I was selling a lot of “street wearâ€. You can only imagine how bad those buyers were…..

·2 years agoWhat do you mean by this comment in your post?
I sent the wrong size
listing states correct size and listing was as described when pointing that out to the customer and that I wasn’t responsible for the shipping as the mistake was not on my side
Di you actually ship these or drop shipping?
diecastorbust
OP2 years agoI ship them here’s what I think happened I think the buyer thought they were full sized Funko pops and diddnt pay attention that the title and description said bitty pops. So buyer thought he was gettting hundreds of dollars in funkos for $30 and still offered five less never asking anything about them. His first attempt at a refund was he diddnt mean to order them and I showed he sent an offer so eBay said no then he did a refund for me sending the wrong size which eBay agreed to with out ever notifying me. In regards to the statement I meant the shipping charges were not my responsibility because the mistakes was on his side not reading the listing . So he destroys them ships them back makes many threats and name calling and posts on my feedback I’m a liar and scammer when all I did was agree to his offer and then not at for his mistake.

·2 years agoFunko pop buyers are the worst buyers in history, my advice, don't sell Funko, if you do, do it elsewhere
diecastorbust
OP2 years agoYou are not wrong. Damage has been done haven’t seen a view since this more ing even though the negative comment is in review it still screwed me.

·2 years agoThank you
There are some buyers that play dumb to get a freebie and play the game.
Did you look at the buyer's full and complete profile / google map location? I do it all the time. Some bash me for doing so, but it has paid off with less worries and stress.

·2 years agoGeneral question to all about returns:
If a seller unfairly withholds 50% from a SNAD return, is the buyer given the opportunity to appeal the seller's 50% deduction?
bonjourami
·2 years agoHe does, yes, thats what happened to the op, Ebay stepped in and fully refunded the buyer and put his funds on hold. Im sure he received an account defect too.
diecastorbust
OP2 years agoAgain no defect against me
bonjourami
·2 years agoThats good then.
diecastorbust
OP2 years agoYes they can and apparently even with proof they sent the items back destroyed eBay gave them the full refund

Sorry for your frustration and situation. Unfortunately, you ARE responsible for the shipping. You're the seller. That's how it goes here on eBay. The only thing I can suggest is that you can report this buyer for extorsion via this link:
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/rules-policies-buyers/abusive-buyer-policy?id=4374&st=3&pos=1&query=Abusive%20buyer%20policy&intent=report%20a%20buyer%20for%20buyer%20abuse&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1318
Stop calling eBay customer service. They are clueless and most of the time their info is incorrect or just an outright lie. Use this link and see if it can help you. If it doesn't work for you go here:
https://www.facebook.com/ebayForBusiness/
https://www.twitter.com/ebayforbusiness
These agents are US CS eBay employees and may better serve you and your situation. Many positive posts with their ability to be helpful. In the past they were helpful concerning my issue at hand. I would contact them today.
Good luck to you!

·2 years agoEven tho you offer thirty day returns, you have buyer pays return shipping. That made you ineligible to return only half of the buyers refund. You could have appealed once you refunded the buyer and the case was closed.Im sure you got a major defect to your acct with that half refund, sorry.
diecastorbust
OP2 years agoI was allowed to only do half this is just a very clear case of buyers abusing policy and sending threats to get their way why trash the items?? No defect happened it’s just eBay turning a blind eye on the **bleep** buyers pull and sellers can’t even do anything to warn others or our accounts can be suspended yet this buyer can threaten call names and throw a tantrum and eBay’s like yep it’s the sellers fault
bonjourami
·2 years agoIm sorry, but you were not allowed to give half, with buyer pays return shipping. That would only apply if you gave free returns.Thats why Ebay immediately gave him his full refund. Have you checked your dashboard for a defect?
lakefor94
·2 years ago@bonjourami
Actually in this case the OP does qualify for the 50% refund. If a seller is TRS, they only have to accept returns and can have "buyer pays return shipping" and see the 50% option.
If the seller is just above standard, they have to have Free Returns to qualify for the 50%.
Don't know what exactly went wrong here for the OP unless the OP has been issuing too many 50% refunds.
When issuing a 50% refund the seller also has to report the buyer before issuing the 50%. That is part of the process.
If a seller does not qualify to issue 50% refunds, I doubt they see that option on an INAD return case.

Actually, I've done partial (up to 50% off) refunds, and never needed to report the buyer first. In most cases, it would be appropriate to report the buyer as well, but I don't believe it's required unless they've drastically changed things.
lakefor94
·2 years ago@brightlightbookseller
I have only used it one time and reporting the buyer was part of the process. Here is the documentation:
Make sure you report the buyer - opens in new window or tab and send the refund within 2 business days after receiving the item back. You can do this from the return request. If eBay steps in to help with the return at any stage, you'll no longer be able to deduct an amount from the buyer's refund.
diecastorbust
OP2 years agoThis is my very first refund where I did not refund the whole purchase amount . How could I he destroyed them aand I can’t sell em all be cause his greed clouded his common sense who sellls $900 worth of funkos for $30
lakefor94
·2 years agoI hear ya. Bad transaction. Glad it was $30 and not $300
For future reference, whenever a seller does not refund the full amount of the transaction, eBay does not refund the Final Value Fees back to the seller
farmalljr
·2 years agoStill think it was a lot of speculation? Seller's first deduction. eBay made them eat it anyway. Yup, it happens. Rules only apply when eBay feels like following them.
This is why I don't care about selling on this platform. I\m not here to give stuff away so some billion dollar corporation can save themselves a couple of bucks.
bonjourami
·2 years agoYou are right, I stand corrected, I believe to be a trs+. you must offer free returns.
itemresa
·2 years agoUnless you're selling in the eBay motors category. Sellers in that category receive the selling fee discount and other TRS perks if they offer 30 day returns, they just don't get the little TRS badge on their listings.
