·7 months agoIf it actually violates ebay policy, They will eventually be caught & removed, Other than that there is nothing that I know of that can be done.

·7 months agoIt sounds like this could be a VERO-type issue, with another seller offering counterfeit tools under the OP’s brand name. The OP might also be concerned about brand dilution, as well as the impact on their online reputation and accountability for the inferior tools.

·7 months agoI had to look around really closely basically with a magnifying glass and zooming in to understand what the OP was referring to.
Basically the other seller copied the OP’s photo and changed the background. The product has tiny engraving with the OP’s brand on it still. Honestly, although a very stupid idea, I still think that is allowed on eBay in regards to listing policy. It’s a different story if buyers come back with not as described returns if that seller doesn’t ship out products with that same engraving. But that issue shouldn’t involve the OP.

When you sell on eBay, you give eBay permission to add your photos to their catalog, which basically means that anyone can use your photos in their listings. It looks like there are several new sellers of surgical instruments, all using the same photos, that they have taken from eBay's catalog.
Do you take all your own photos or have you used some of the photos from eBay's catalog? I ask because you use about 7 or 8 different backgrounds for your instruments which is a little unusual for a seller selling the same types of products.

OP7 months ago@pickapaper yes we do own manufacturing & take pictures. Use of Different background define the categories as per healthcare suctions. We are not claiming for pictures because goods are similar name in worldwide but someone is also using our name in their listings. He is copying our listing pictures and don't remove our from them & selling them as our 2nd account.

·7 months agoLooks like the seller just changed the background of your photo. Unfortunately this is allowed in eBay. I even had people copy my exact photos and left my eBay store name watermark all over them on their listings. Nothing we can do.
And from the listing you linked I don’t see any indication that they are claiming to be your 2nd account as you mentioned.

·7 months agoI know. I saw it. That’s why I said they used your photo and changed the background. This is allowed on eBay in regards to listing policy. I still don’t see where you said the seller is pretending to be your 2nd account though.

OP7 months ago@iamalwaysright seller is not pretending this is a 2nd account of Zwan Impex. but they are selling th sub-standard goods & when buyer didn't get back reply from them and claiming us. 4 ppls claimed us we bought Bla Bla items they some sub standard and you are not reply now.

If your first statement is accurate, then it sounds like your issue is within your own company if you are the manufacturer. Can’t you just tell your second account to stop selling substandard goods and not involve eBay? I don’t understand your words in the rest of your reply. Sorry.

·7 months ago*sigh* Are you understanding my replies? Yes, I saw all of that from the beginning. I’ll say it again, the seller used your photos (which is allowed) and changed the background to them. Thus the product (and all its engravings) remain. Still allowed on eBay.
I can sell a Nike shoe on my account with a photo of a shoe that has the Nike logo, but that doesn’t mean I’m Nike’s 2nd account.
If the product being sent to buyers isn’t exactly like the one in the photo, that’s an issue between the buyer and this seller.

OP, there's nothing you can do about this. I see my photos on other people's listings all the time. You can drop the thief a line, complimenting them on your photos and asking them not to use them ("Hi, nice pics, perhaps next time you can use your own"), but that's about it. Honestly, though, it's hardly worth even that much effort. Your photos become ebay's property as soon as you upload them to their platform.

However, eBay decided to never enforce it, and its been years that they have decided to change that..
So id say it's more of a suggestion.

That's an 8-year-old post btw. You do what you like, but that post is, like your suggestion, probably not the smartest choice of posts to use to support your point. It's definitely DOES NOT say it's a good idea to violate policy and start using them. It says they've given up on trying to get them all removed. The important parts of that post are included below so that the OP can see what it actually says...
We know that buyers want to see products clearly before they make a purchase, and watermarks create a cluttered experience not consistent with retail standard. Watermarked images are also a primary reason Google rejects eBay-funded Google Shopping placements, meaning less visibility for your listings and decreased conversion.

1. The False Implication:
You claim I am 'advising users to violate policy.' This is a strawman. I am stating a documented fact: eBay officially paused enforcement of this rule. Stating the operational reality of a policy is not the same as inciting rebellion; it is providing accurate context.

2. Moving the Goalposts:
The original argument was whether this is a bannable/prohibited action on eBay. You have shifted the argument to whether it is 'smart' for Google Shopping/SEO.
Those are two different discussions.
​Is it 'good' for SEO? Maybe not.
​Is it enforced by eBay? No.
​
3. Your Own Evidence:
You quoted the text yourself: 'we... have decided that we will not enforce the removal of watermarks.'

That is the only point I was making. eBay explicitly stated they would not enforce the rule. The fact that the post is 8 years old actually validates my point—it has been nearly a decade, and they have not reversed that decision or restarted enforcement.

Let’s stick to what is actually required by eBay, rather than conflating 'Best Practices' with 'Rules.
