How to get deduction tool as new seller?
30 day returns are on the buyer pays option is this enough to be able to get the deduction tool enabled to get 50% back or do I have to pay the cost of returns to have that option? Not a TRS buy the way.
on Reddit it says the seller needs to pay for refunds for that option to work but I trust this forum more than Reddit so asking here for clarification.

·5 months agoA Seller is eligible for the Partial Return Deduction if: You are AT LEAST an Above Standard Seller and you Offer Free Returns, or you are a Top-Rated Seller and Offer AT LEAST 30-Day Returns (with some exceptions). Free Returns are not the only requirement.

OP5 months agoNot a TRS so a 30 day return would have no benefits in my case it seems since eBay wouldn’t help me out?

·5 months agoIf you don't fall under the TRS requirements, you would have to offer Free Returns if you are at an Above Standard Level.

OP5 months agoMostly new and used clothing but do have some electronics. Both the clothing and electronics are expensive at least for me so was just trying to figure out the returns refunds and reimbursements.

·5 months agoThe reddit forum is correct in this case. Your listings have to be TRS+ listings to qualify for the deduction. TRS+ listings require free returns for at least 30 days.

Did you sell something on another account? Is that account in good standing? Does that account have a return policy?
If you don't have a return policy, you're SOL if the item comes back damaged.

OP5 months agoDifferent acct I sold 3 products so not a top rated seller and don’t have the time too be eBay is short term for me. The account is in good standing have 2 out of 3 reviews at 100% but again it’s not a top rated seller account.
what would be the point of returns since the above user said I need a top rated seller account AND need to use free returns to be offered a deduction? What would a 30 day return do for just a normal not above average account?

·5 months agoSadly, ebay probably won't do a thing. Unfortunately it comes down to a he said/she said thing, and 99 out of 100 times ebay finds in favor of the buyer. The one time they find in favor of the seller, it's generally a TRS with a TRS+ listing.
Bottom line, getting your seller level up and following ebay's rule to the letter is the best way to make sure you're protected as a seller. It's worth it, in my opinion.

·5 months agoNo, TRS+ gets discounts on the final value fees, but to deduct from a return that is in different condition than was sent, you have to be a Top Rated Seller with 30 Day Returns (can be buyer-paid) or Above Standard Seller with Free Returns. Two different things.

·5 months agoYou can see your current selling status on your dashboard. I imagine if you haven't sold enough items to be a top rated seller and don't have shipping metric problems or worse, then you are an above standard seller.
