How much longer is General Promotions going to be on ebay?
How likely do you think ebay will eventually faze out General Promotions and only leave the Priority Promotions option available to sellers. I mean, it's like those two things are in competition of each other right? Which one does ebay seem to be pushing for more than the other?

Priority promotions are for new item sellers who sell the same listing 20 times a day.
General promotions is for everyone else.

·8 months ago@iamalwaysright Every quarter since they introduced first party (seller) ads, general ads have been the biggest moneymaker (and the ad product used the most.) I don't think they have any intention of phasing it out in favor of Priority Ads. Instead, they have given an added incentive to use Priority Ads (reserving the top slot on the search results page to Priority Ads, a slot which is of greatest importance to sellers of new, multi quantity items---and they are the target audience for Priority Ads. So that might help grow the use of Priority Ads by the people who ebay wants to see using them.
At the same time, they have turned General Ads into a sort of hybrid of Priority and General, with the new attribution rule creating a situation where the great majority of sales of items in a General Ad campaign will always result in an ad fee---so no matter how poorly the ads perform, ebay has a huge chance of collecting a fee.
And they announced an improvement to store ads on the 14th, but despite the announcement, the Ads team has failed to release the improvement, and has offered no explanation for their failure.
But I don't expect ebay to pull back from any of their ad products--- they will continue to offer them as long as they see sellers spending money on them.

·8 months agoAs long as sellers are willing to pay more in fee's, I don't think they'll get rid of it, unless they come up with another idea to charge sellers more.

·8 months agoEbay has already come up with ideas to charge sellers more, for doing absolutely nothing extra for sellers.
Expect this trend to continue.

·8 months agoI don't think they will ever do away with it because of 1 reason.
It makes them $$.
The 'other type' cost them next to nothing to 'push' and those that 'fall for it' does nothing but...
makes them $$.

·8 months agoPerhaps it is because they make money with both schemes and there are sellers who show loyalty to both schemes.
Promotion continues because there are sellers who believe, correctly or incorrectly, it is helping them make sales.
