Just curious why are so worried about getting a 1099? I just recently did my taxes using TurboTax and here is what TurboTax says when you have income that you didn’t get a 1099. Just because you didn’t get a 1099 doesn’t mean your income from sales on eBay or any other platform is not reportable.
Do I need to report income if I didn't receive a 1099?
You should report all taxable income - regardless of whether it is documented on a 1099 or not. The IRS requires you to report all of your earnings, whether they come from traditional employment or other sources.
For example, imagine you're a freelancer and did work for a business. But the client, for some reason, didn't send you a 1099. Whether it's an oversight, or a lack of knowledge on their part, the obligation to report that income falls on you. So, it’s important to keep a record of any income you earn throughout the year.
You should even report income from sources that may seem trivial, like income from side projects, cash tips from a service job, or income from a small-scale business.
Don't worry about the 1099 as the IRS already can see the number of sales you have made. Everyone can see it = 2.8K. It's all right there in our feedback. Just report what you do every year and you never need to worry about extra paperwork coming to you. The 1099 is a good thing as it lets you know how accurate your figures are.
@traintrack_man It doesn't matter how many items you sell. All the 1099K form is, is a form that eBay is required to send to you if you sell over a certain amount due to IRS rules. I believe it will be $2500.00 for 2025 unless congress changes it.
Any sales you make need to be reported as income, even if less than the minimum for receiving a 1099K on your tax forms and then you deduct your expenses, Cost of goods, eBay fees, shipping etc. from them to report any profit/loss. You are only taxed if you make a profit from your sales.
How many sales for 2025?I do not want to go over the limit.I believe its ( 100 )
There is NO limit on the number of transactions. The threshold for getting a 1099-K is based only on your total sales (including item price, shipping and handling). If you sell just one item and the price is over that threshold amount, then you will get a 1099-K and thus will not be able to avoid paying income tax on your eBay sale(s).

There is no number of items. It's $2500 to receive a 1099 in 2025 period! In 2026 it will be $600. Marking your own post as the best answer is in error since you are so very wrong.
@traintrack_man You could have 1 sale for lets say $200.00. You are still required to report it as income on your tax forms. You also are allowed to take any deductions to offset that income.
You have been a member since 2002 with over 2.8K transactions. I really hope you have reported all that income over the years. An IRS audit would not be any fun at all if you haven't.
The 1099K amount is just a trigger for eBay to send the form to both you and the IRS. What the IRS needs to do is just remove the minimum amount and have all 3rd party processors, (eBay, Etsy, PayPal, Amazon, Uber, Door Dash etc) report all sales no matter the amount.
There are so many similar posts here from people who don't want to pay income tax on their eBay income. Does that mean they have no other income like a regular job, investments, rentals etc on which they's be required to pay Federal income tax?

I would break it up into three categories.
Those have have substantial income that IS reported, they pay lots of taxes and would like to be able to earn additional income via the gig economy and NOT pay any taxes on that income.
Those that are on social assistance, disability or similar and any additional income would affect the payments they are currently receiving.
Those that have almost no income, have never (or not recently) filed tax returns, have no idea how to file and how taxes are calculated, think the IRS wants a ton of money even though they don't make enough money to exceed the standard deductions and likely if they did report eBay income would not be paying any additional taxes.
The ones that post here most likely fall into the third group.
"How many sales for 2025?I do not want to go over the limit.I believe its ( 100 )"
For issuance of Form 1099-K for calendar year 2025, the federal rules say (1) the minimum number of transactions is One (1). You gotta sell something and get some money before eBay has to send a Form 1099-K to the IRS and to you. (2) minimum gross sales of $2,500.00. Until or unless the IRS makes another change to that dollar amount. Your own state may have a lower dollar amount requirement. If so, eBay will issue a Form 1099-K to meet your state requirement(s).
As in all years of recent history (which for me is six decades plus), the IRS expects all of us to list all of our income on our tax return form, 1040 or appropriate version -- whether the payor (eBay) has to send Form 1099-K, to tell the IRS about it or not.

It doesn't matter how much you sell or how little you sell, you're still are required, by law, to report any income gained from selling, regardless if you receive a 1099 or not. It doesn't necessarily mean you will pay taxes on those sales, you still are required to report it.
If you don't report your sales to the IRS you would be committing income tax evasion.
1099-K is based on your gross income - not the number of sales. You declare ALL income and then take your deductions. The 1099-K simply tells you what gross income was reported to the IRS by Ebay under the law.

It gives you a base number to make your deductions from.
