·3 days agoI absolutely hate the year time frame for TDR. It is insane to score me on performance based on a canceled order from a year ago. It is especially problematic if you are cross-posting on other sites and have to cancel an eBay order due to out-of-stock reasons.

·6 months agoIf a buyer is missing an item(s) as I notice in the feedbacks...refund the buyer before eBay steps in and no defects.
You don't get a defect if you yourself refund the buyer.
A cancel or out of stock item gives you a defect.
I assume you got 1 or more defects such with buyer missing items.
A buyer with multiple purchases can give multiple feedbacks plus give you multiple defects if you don't handle the refunds on your own.
I hate a multiple order because one buyer can do a lot of damage to a sellers' account when something goes wrong.
It's kind of better to just do what the buyer wants and not argue in emails back and forth and never give excuses why this or that happened.
If it was one item you got one defect...but we don't really know how many you got.
You got to be careful now for the rest of the year to get no more defects which are the 'kiss of death' here.

·6 months agoSimply put, your defect rate is determined by your number of problem transactions (cancelations, reported INADs, etc.) divided by your total number of transactions. For example, if you complete 100 transactions but screw up two different transactions, your defect rate would be 0.02 or 2%.
It has nothing to do with other sellers, but you can see how you compare to other sellers by looking at the average of all sellers on your service metrics page. The yellow area is average, the green represents low (where you want to be), the orange is high (you're getting into trouble here), and the red is very high (you're toast).

·6 months agoService Metrics track your 'Item not received and Item not as described' rate and compare that to "other Sellers". If you have "more complaints" than other Sellers, your defect rate will be higher.
EBAY total number of sales (in a particular category) and divides that by number of "item not received and item not as described". So, you can have a "high defect" rate in one particular category and "good rating" in a different category.

·6 months agoThe transaction defect rate is the percentage of your total transactions that had any 1 of 2 defects. We don't count more than 1 defect per transaction.
Accounts are evaluated on the 20th of each month.
