How does a seller with 4 negative feedback still have 100% positive feedback rating?
Just curious if anyone can explain how a seller with 4 negative feedbacks can still have a 100% positive feedback rating? I spoke with eBay concierge and they had no answers and stated they would look into it. Can anyone else make any sense out of this?

·2 years agoI know I'm still showing one on my feedback but it is over a year old. There seems to be a glitch with them disappearing, though I am back to 100% now.

·2 years agoOver 12 mos based on the transaction date or the date buyer left the FB?
Buyers have 60 days to leave FB, so determining whether it's older than a year you'd have to remember the date the buyer left the FB, not the date of the transaction.

·2 years agoSo the way feedbacks are catalogued/displayed "past month, past 6 months, past year, over a year" -is that by purchase date or feedback left date?
wastingtime101
·2 years agoFeedback left date @gurlcat .

·2 years agoThe date the FB is left.

·2 years agoIt's from when the buyer left the feedback. The transaction was in December late 2022 and they left it in early February 2023. It's still there, even tho my % went back to 100 as of March 1st.

·2 years agoThat's not a glitch. The feedback doesn't disappear, it's just no longer counted in your percentage. Negative feedback is permanently shown to those who bother to take the time to dig into your history (or if eBay deems it "relevant feedback"), it just rolls off your percentage calculation so you can get back to 100% as you did.

·2 years agoIsn't it though @brightlightbookseller ? According to glorygifts, the FB was left in early Feb 2023.
- It correctly dropped off her % calculation.
- It correctly remained on her FB profile.
- It incorrectly remained in the "past 12 months" stats box at the top of her FB page, saying she's had 1 neg FB in the past 12 mos, even though the FB is from 14 mos ago.

·2 years agoAh, I missed that it was showing in the Past 12 Months area. You're right, that may be a glitch, assuming it was actually left in Feb 2023 (it's always hard to pin down the exact date feedback was left, unless you just happen to remember, which for a negative, they might).

·2 years agoEbay has changed the way they display feedback......
You are seeing "relevant" feedback which can show negs that are more than 1 year old , yet do not count on the other 1,6, 12 month image which will show at 100% if no negs are there.
You would think ebay employees would KNOW this information.

·2 years agoI've seen several posts recently about this concierge service you mention, I'm curious about who pays for this special service to be available for questions like this?
lakefor94
·2 years agoI think it used to come with Anchor and/or Enterprise stores. Have also heard that some sellers are "invited" to receive the service....
Payment for those services would be provided by eBay from store fees and other seller fees.

·2 years agoA long time ago Ebay invited certain sellers to be part of having a Concierge service. it was a mixture of sellers of many sizes. To my knowledge they haven't ever expanded the service beyond the initial invitation process.

·2 years agoI've seen a lot of posts by people who had it but found it very disappointing compared to what they expected or what it used to be like. Hopefully @masterblasterplanet won't be another post-n-vanish thread starter, and will clarify whether the 4 negatives he saw were given within the past year or not. If they were, then concierge service must be truly useless, because percent positive calculation is such basic knowledge.
masterblasterplanet
OP2 years agoYes, according to the negative feedback shown, all 4 negative feedback comments were less than 12 months old. All 4 feedback comments were from different buyers as well. eBay confirmed they saw the same thing on their end, and agreed with me it was strange, even though I've been seeing this for years. They told me someone would follow up with me via email with an update and of course I never heard anything back from them about it.
mam98031
·2 years agoWhat you continue NOT to mention is how many FB the seller has in the past 12 months. This is and always has been a math question. But you have to know all the number. This has been explained a few times to you on this thread, but it appears to not matter to you.

OP2 years agoThe eBay concierge service was offered to me about 8-9 years ago. I have no idea how I was selected. I assumed everyone had it but over the years I've learned that's not the case. The best part about it is you select your reason for contacting them and they call you, typically in 3 min or less. For the past 4-5 years up until about 8 months ago they would even remove negative feedback if it went against eBay guidelines and even if it didn't you could ask for a "courtesy removal" and many times they'd remove negative feedback if they could see a trail of effort by the seller. They've since done away with it. Typically the eBay concierge reps have a decent bit of knowledge and are located in the US. Unfortunately they're back to having zero power to impact change. So even when you're right about a situation there's nothing they can do about it. They basically take a report and create a ticket that's submitted to their IT dept. Otherwise they're mostly there to clarify and explain things.

The answers is ALWAYS in the math.
If in the past 12 months a seller has 4 negs and 10,000 FB, their FB percentage is 99.96% FB, so likely displayed at 100%.
10,000 / 10,004 = 99.96%
You take the total number of positive FB and divide it by the total number of positive FB PLUS the number of negative FB to arrive at your percentage.
masterblasterplanet
OP2 years agoFalse. 99.96% does not round up to 100% positive with eBay ever.
I currently have 99.9% (only 1 negative feedback) .
Your feedback score is your feedback score. eBay doesn't round up.
Furthermore that's not the situation with the seller I mentioned in the OP as they had only 800+ feedback and 4 negatives all in the last 12 months.

·2 years agoI'm sorry, @masterblasterplanet, but your current feedback rating is being rounded up correctly ... from 0.998871 = 99.8871% to 99.9%.
Your feedback is being calculated with 885 positives, and 886 (= 885 + 1) total feedbacks. Even though you have 1130 total positives in the last 12 months, some of those must have been from the same user(s) within the same calendar week(s), so they only count one of them (per user, per week).
You would need to have 1999 positives to counteract one negative and round up to 100%. 1999 / (1999+1) = 0.9995 = 99.95% which would round up to 100%. With only 1998 positives and one negative, it would still round down.

·2 years agoIt's possible that the 4 transactions involved, were all sold more than 12 months ago (so they are no longer included in the percentage rating for the feedback) ...
... but, the 4 feedbacks could have been left up to 60 days after the delivery date, either actual or estimated, whichever is earliest. The feedback showing in the table is based on when the feedback was left, not when the item was sold.
That can explain why feedback might still be showing in the 12-months column of the table, but would not be included in the feedback percentage calculation.
If you don't think that explanation is correct, would you private message me with the seller's ID so I can look at their profile, please?
mam98031
·2 years agoOMG it is simple math. What I stated is not incorrect. On a percentage like 99.96%, it would round up to 100%. Since Ebay does use one decimal point when calculating FB percentages, if the sellers percentage was 99.94%, then Ebay would display it as 99.9% Ebay has rounded numbers for many years.
Oh that is a great point. Let's use my feedback. The math would be 227 divided by 228 = 99.561% but Ebay rounds up to 99.6%.
For your account it is 885 divided by 886 = 99.887% or once rounded up it is 99.9% as it states on your FB page.

·2 years agoIt's 6 months now, so you'll still see the neg hits on the feedback page till 12 months pass, but not on the items' listing pages where the rating % is displayed. A lot of it is fake anyway now. No way that 3 different buyers say exactly the same thing. You guys should have done eBay 25 years ago when I started. No Chinese storefronts (no stores at all), no Buy It Now (auction only), and you could see your buyer's or seller's phone numbers and addresses; we used to accept checks too (7 day hold). If you hadn't done business, just a click request and eBay would give it to you. You could sell a pair of boxers that you had worn and not washed (some high-priced stuff there). One of my best friends of 20 years came from a phone call over a pair of jeans. It used to be great and a social type of selling site. It's sad what has happened to it.

·2 years agoAuctions only, checks, 7 day holds and dirty boxers .... doesn't sound so great LOL!!
As for 3 buyers saying the exact same thing, those aren't fake accounts. When you go to leave feedback on purchases eBay offers pre-written positive comments you can choose rather than write your own. I don't use it, but I don't disparage those who do. It saves time if they need to catch up feedback on a lot of purchases, and I imagine it's a welcome relief for someone with dyslexia.

Yes way.
EBay supplies boilerplate feedback for those who are nice enough to leave FB, but not original enough to think up a different comment every time.
I have been using the same words for every Selling FB for decades changing only the shipping dates.

·2 years ago1. As noted in the other post, the negs might be more than 12 months old.
2. Even if it looks like they are less than 12 months old, the time period used for calculating percentage is slightly different from the 12-month period displayed in the summary box at the top of the feedback page so older negs might show up in that box but not be included in the percentage calculation.
3. If the seller has an enormous number of feedback in the past 12 months, then the 4 negs might still work out to 100% due to rounding, i.e., the percentage is 99.95% or greater.
masterblasterplanet
OP2 years ago1. the 4 negative feedback comments were from unique buyers, and all 4 were left in the past 12 months. 1 was in the past month, and the other 3 were 6 months or older.
2. eBay concierge confirmed my statement above.
3. The seller had 800+ total feedbacks and 4 negative feedbacks.
4. eBay doesn't round up. I have 99.9% positive feedback with only 1 feedback and eBay has never rounded up.

·2 years agoIf you are seeing 4 negative feedback and they only appear under 12 months and percentage rating is 100% that means those negative feedbacks are about to roll off.
As yours nears 12months to the date you received it, you'll see the same thing.

·2 years agoIf those 4 negative feedbacks are over a year old.
The percentage calculation only goes back one year.
