How does a coupon work when you send the buyer an invoice?
So I have a good buyer and there will be things I'm listing soon for them to get. There will be shipping added to the items, but I want to give the buyer free shipping so I plan to send them an invoice (that's how that worked the last time).
Thing is, I also want to give them a coupon for a discount on the stuff, so they get a discount, but others will pay full price.
If he adds the things to his cart and requests total from me on the coins, and then I send an invoice, can he use the coupon at checkout so he gets his discount added to his order while getting the free shipping from receiving a invoice, at the same time?
I've used coupons occasionally to buy and gotten my discount at checkout, I just wanted to make sure if I send the invoice he can still use the coupon to further discount his stuff at checkout.

·7 months agoI don’t believe an invoice can be requested or sent when a coupon is used. @wastingtime101 , am I remembering correctly that you had a good reference for that question?

OP7 months agoOK, I thought that might be the case... so either he has to pay shipping (and I can refund that), or he doesn't get to use a coupon.
Was really hoping to give him a discount as a repeat customer (and I'm shipping them free because he bought lots and lots of coins, I was so happy for the sale I didn't mind spending money to ship, was going to do the same thing if he bought more from me).

·7 months ago@sin-n-dex I would just offer to discount the items via the invoice and skip using a coupon code, in this case, since they would likely trust you to do that.

OP7 months agoIf they commit to buy, you can't discount anything more than the shipping (for the +/- amount at the bottom). You can't have them commit to buy it for 9.99 and then offer 5% discount after the fact. (If someone knows different please let me know, I've been in this situation before of wanting to give a discount and having the buyer pay full price, and then not being able to give a discount on the invoice beyond deducting the shipping).

What you may be thinking of @jonathanbrightlight is the list I compiled of how different discounts (and offers) stack or don't stack. It doesn't include anything about invoices being involved.
