How do you think ebay will find in this case?
A buyer who bought two widgets from me filed a INR and says they only received one.
I sell quite a few of these.
When I sell one it ships First Class in a padded envelope at 12 oz.
When I sell two it ships in a Priority Mail flat rate padded envelope because of the weight.
His order was shipped Priority Mail so I know he was sent and received two.
Of course I responded to the case and added the racking number which shows delivered.
I don't think this has ever happened to me before.
On a INR case where the buyer claims a shortage, how does ebay usually handle this?

·3 years agoA buyer put in an INAD case against me because the buyer claims the item was missing even though they did receive the bonus I added to the package. After that, he tried a INR case. eBay found in my favor due to seller protection. I cannot say every case would be the same. This was a 1 of for me. I had a buyer receive a GRADED sports card from me & put in as INAD case & eBay found in his favor. How can a professionally graded card not be as described?! That was ridiculous.

·3 years agoIt does not matter because even if you win, the buyer will file a SNAD case and win that.

·3 years agoYou might have purchased a priority label because when you were creating your labels you would have seen it quantity of 2. Then you could have accidentally shipped only one inside of a padded envelope that you use for first class and without noticing and then stuck on the Priority label. Can you ask them for a picture of the package that it was sent in? If they can provide you a photo of the type of first class envelopes you use then you would know that is what happened. If they send you a picture of priority packaging then you will know that they are probably lying.
I think you were the one telling me recently in a different thread to just trust my buyer it was damaged in shipment and repay them and that no one would scam someone for $40. And I did refund them even though it was an INR that I could have won with proof of tracking.

OP3 years agoGreat idea.
I'll (politely) ask of they can send me a picture of the package.
Thanks!

·3 years agoCould be a mistake on your part. Sometimes I swear I did something right but was tired that day. Accidents happen. Or, it could be a terrible buyer, in which case you should block. But you shouldn't be so hard on posters all the time on this forum. People have legitimate concerns and everyone will get into a pickle here and there. You don't want bad karma coming your way. Will just say that much...

·3 years agoI know what you're saying. I'm one of those people that get instant karma, both good and bad. Its pushed me to be more patient and understanding as I've gotten older.

OP3 years agoYou are correct. I never rule out the fact that it could have been my fault.
The overwhelming evidence in this case is the fact that when I send out 1, it goes first class.
When I send out 2, it goes priority mail.
This order was sent priority mail.
If push comes to shove, I'll send him another one.
I'm just hoping that ebay doesn't make me give him (or give him) a full refund when he admits to receiving one of two.
BTW they are $44 each.

How is that overwhelming evidence? No judge will think it's overwhelming

OP3 years agoIf you say so.

·3 years agoI'm with you on your statement about 'overwhelming evidence'.
I'm a longtime seller who does everything myself at every step of the process. I also sell something that pushes shipping up to Priority mail if the number of widgets increases to a certain (low) level.
I'm unsure of how many bells would be going off in my head if I had a lower amount of widgets in front of me at my shipping station and I was suddenly reaching for a Priority box or envelope, but it would be a lot.
I would question how much longer I can sell on eBay if I can no longer count to 3 (or in your case, two).
Just my humble opinion.

·3 years agoPriority mail has insurance. Perhaps you can email the buyer and say since it's priority mail, it has insurance and you will need his help in filing the claim and they might be questioned by the US postal police to see if someone is tampering with the mail. Let them know to save the packaging since the U.S. post office will want to see it and check for "fingerprints. " Who knows, maybe that widget will automatically appear....

·3 years agoI wonder if we'll have to go through this process with all insurance claims through USPS, specifically Ground Advantage?

·3 years agoYou don't know 100%... you see two on the sales order, and print postage for two, but then in turn only actually pack one. You can't discount the fact the buyer might have only received one.
If it's not expensive and not a high scam thing, I'd guess they might be telling the truth and give them the benefit of the doubt. Since they opened a case, I'd refund for the one they claimed not to receive. Had they not opened a case, I might be inclined to replace it with another one.

·3 years agoI really don't know how eBay will handle but probably will side with buyer, if I were you, I would send another one in a first class envelope and end it right there.

·3 years agoThe buyer should have opened a Not As Described claim, they will almost certainly lose the INR at least initially. The bots will simply check the tracking you provided, see "delivered" and close the case in your favor.
Of course is they are told they lost the case because tracking shows it was delivered they can just open an NAD claim.

·3 years agoItem not as described. Refund. Or partial refund which I grit my teeth to giving partial refunds. But I also hate getting a nasty feedback from a buyer. You are the "Rockstar" here. Not even sure what a widget is or how much it costs...tried googling it...best I make it as some sort of doorknob.

·3 years agoOne of two thing swill happen and it will depend on the CS person you talk with. First option is you will lose and either send them another item or refund. The second the CS person will believe you and check your account to see if you have issues like this in the past. They can choose to open a case for you and find it in your favor or eBay will refund the buyer for the one item and not hold you responsible. In my 23 years on this crazy platform I have had it go all the ways I'm telling you. In eBays eyes you will always be wrong before you are right.

·3 years agoSince the tracking shows delivered buyer should auto lose the INR case. However, they can turn around and open an INAD. Just pointing out so you don't think you're completely in the black when the INR case closes in your favor. I'm sorry you ran across this issue, especially on a well selling item. Hopefully they will go away when they lose the first case, but they can also go thru PayPal just as well. The difficulties of online selling. Best of luck to you....
