·4 months agoHere is what I do when shipping a light-weight item in an envelope. Under cost type I select flat rate, I click the "offer free shipping" box then under the primary service I select "economy shipping". When I go to ship I just put stamps on it. There will be no tracking and I mention that in the description. I have never had a problem with a lost item mailed this way but if I did I would just refund.

Thanks for that info.
Long time seller here and I did not know that.

·4 months agoAt the risk of sounding like a softie or a sap, I will say that I certainly hope no one comes to this board having some sort of medical issue that causes confusion.

·4 months agoI was thinking it is very possible a family member is running the account in the short term absence of the owner in which case it is best to just answer the question.

·4 months agoMaybe there is more to this question that wasn't expressed. If the intention was missed can you provide more information or ask in a different way?

·4 months agoFree shipping only means the seller is not charging the buyer. When you print the label, it will still be charged to the seller account.

OP4 months agoI have been on ebay since 1998 never offered free shipping so I thought ebay had nothing to do with the
( label) if item had free shipping posted ,so you just print label it will be charged to me . I have been charged twice a couple times over the years so I just thought I would ask about it thanks

·4 months agoThis makes absolutely zero sense.
And you've been selling 28 YEARS but don't know how this works?!

·4 months agoDon't listen to all the bad advice you got here. You don't need a USPS label if you offer free shipping, you just give it to the post office and they deliver it for you at no charge. Because that's how free shipping works.

·4 months agoI guess the answer to this question would be...
The same way you print out a post office label without free shipping.

You print it the same way you do your other labels.
You buy the shipping label, then print it.

·4 months agoThis reminds me a bit of the posts from sellers offering free shipping complaining that they're being charged for shipping. "But...but...but I said it was FREE."

The account asking this question has over 8 thousand sales...

·4 months agoNot to be funny...but I just learned something new...😂
And I been around for some time.
I used the post office kiosk and didn't know actually you can get a stamp label for an envelope and the receipt actually will have the city, state and zip code on it.
I went to weight my envelope and it cost $1.07 for the stamp.
It even asked me if I wanted the extras...
I never thought of doing that...I only weighed my envelopes.
It's a neat feature where I don't have to print it using my ink...my paper...my tape.
And I can do a small label or large label.
Talk about being dumb for so long...😂

·4 months agoIt puts the estimated delivery date on the receipt also which is so strange since I am dropping it in the box myself...
chapeau-noir
·4 months agoEstimated delivery date from the time the label is generated.
That's a cool feature, though. We don't have those Fancy Dan kiosks up where I am. I think the post office in one of the ritzier towns north of me might.

·4 months ago@12345jamesstamps - I’m wondering if the receipt on post office letterhead can be an effective ‘proof’ to show a buyer who is fictitiously claiming non-receipt - in response to an ‘I didn’t get my item’ message. Not real proof of mailing, of course, but enough to dissuade them from lodging an INR claim against you.
annadryl
·4 months agoIt shows intent but not proof that it was delivered. If they're bent on INR it wouldn't slow them down.
12345jamesstamps
·4 months agoWell, International Buyers might think twice about filing for item not received.
I can now email the photo to a buyer to show it was shipped.
I sometimes print a $1.70 on the machine for International Buyers since they may not know that's it's not tracking with the stamp label.
'effective proof'....well, eBay only shows the city, state and zip code on tracking and it's considered proof even though the street doesn't show in tracking of the eBay label.
One has to wonder though...

·4 months agoI can’t tell if you’re being serious. You sold many items with free shipping – how did you do it on those? There isn’t any difference in printing a label when you have free shipping versus when you are charging a separate line item for it.
timetosell$$it
OP4 months agonever did free shipping on my items and so thought I would try it on first class items but there was alot of things you need to watch for like size weight or you can get burned thanks for your answer I was being serious I know it sounds nuts but hey never offered free shipping till now been on ebay since 1998
powell-collectibles
·4 months agoI think it’s great. You’re trying new things after 28 years – It isn’t a big risk. You just have to put the shipping cost into your item price.
mamacassidy
·4 months agoOk, I think I see the problem.
OP wrote: "never did free shipping on my items and so thought I would try it on first class items"
You can't print an ebay label for First Class mail.

·4 months agoThis ^^
luckythewinner
·4 months agoYou can either buy the label from eBay the way you do for your other packages, or you can buy one from thr USPS, or you can buy one from one of the other third-party shipping sites like PirateShip.
authentic*vintage
·4 months agoShipping is free for the buyer, Not the seller - so you will pay for the label from the funds you received from the purchase.
Click get a shipping label and put in your dimensions and weight of the packaged item and select the shipping service.
Purchase the label and then print the label.
bdmh-enterprises
·4 months agoThe same way you printed labels for all the other things you've sold...
