How do you guys use or if you use promoted listings effectively?
Obviously I don't promote items I know are in demand, but for the items that sit for a while do you promote those listings? If so, do you use eBay's suggested promotion or use the 2% rule I read about that other sellers do? The fees alone take a good chunk of earnings, let alone adding promoted listings.

·5 months agoI do monthly sales.
I do like 3 for 30% off or such or 30 % off high end items.
I rather the buyer gets a deal and not eBay giving a higher fee or a promoted fee for the item sold.
The deal going directly to the buyer might bring 'repeat buyers' as well.
I had one buyer buy 37 items the other day...
These are the buyers I want...and he was a 'repeat buyer'.
The market here is saturated with promoted listings...sellers promoting garbage in my category and / or selling items that are worthless.

·5 months agoI also don't promote.
If someone wants to buy one of my items, they'll find it and buy it whether it's promoted or not.

·5 months agoI promote due to being in an overly saturated market, I never go over 3%, It tends to help, You are right fees alone take a good chunk of earnings but adding just 2-3% more to that chunk in order to get rid of more inventory can be worthwhile, You don't have to like it, but sometimes you need to do it!

·5 months agoI am rolling with the 2% on all 1450 listings. I don't mind tossing eBay an extra 2% for some more sales every week. I reckon it is part of the game for my business.

·5 months agoI have items that have been listed for a number of months without movement. I don't feel any urgent need to promote them. I am guessing that if I did promote non moving items, the money spent for promoting all the items would not offset any sale due to the promoting. So basically promoting might be a net negative.
