How do I re-list an item that I sold out of, but then made more? Do I have to start a new listing?
There used to be a "sell similar" button in my Paid & Shipped items' pulldown menus, but it's not there on the item I want to re-list. So in addition to NOT wanting to copy/paste all the details from the old/original listing, I'd also like buyers to see the sold count. I'd also like buyers who had it in their watchlists to see that it's available again.
Is that possible? The specific item (which I think you won't be able to find because I sold out last year) is Item ID: 295281350336.

·11 months agoKeep in mind if you use the OOS option. Even when the stock is "0", when it renews monthly, it counts against your active listing amounts if you are counting such things.

OP11 months agoI've seen listings that are active with 0 available, and it appeared that it was possible to still buy in that state, which seemed really odd. What are all the ramifications of a OOS listing remaining "active"? Why can't I keep OOS listings in my eBay history somewhere? I guess I need to start copying the text & details out of my hand-made listings when they get near 0 quantity.

Yes, I have many watchers that may watch for years before deciding to buy. Some of what I sell requires a substantial investment in labor to install. Or a buyer may not need it immediately, but still want to know where to get it when it's needed later. That's what I do frequently.
I had 8 originally, and it took more than 2 years to sell out, including some local sales off eBay. That's why I didn't rush to make more.
I'm not that big of a seller, but good to know.

·11 months agoIf you had attempted to buy, I believe eBay gives you a message that it is out-of-stock. Unless there was a fluke with eBay, it would be impossible to buy an item with a quantity of 0.
I wish there was a way to archive listings so you don't lose them. I imagine one reason why eBay does not allow that and also limits how far back they retain listing information has to do with the sheer volume of space it takes up. I believe I also read somewhere one time that the EU has privacy laws in place that require eBay to delete personal information after a certain period. If you believe you will need to create a new listing of something you've sold previously, you can always save the text in a notepad window. I do that with text that I frequently repeat in answering messages and in the item condition.

·11 months agoUnfortunately without the out-of-stock option enabled and it being past 90-days since the last order, you will have to create a new listing. Your public sales history is essentially lost as even if a buyer goes to Product Research, they can't see who sold the item.
For in the future, you need to change your account settings. Go to the upper left-hand corner, hover over your name, and click on Account Settings. Scroll down til you see Selling Preferences. Select that, and then you should see the toggle slider that will turn on the out-of-stock option. This way when you hit 0, the listing stays active and your sales history in place, so buyers see you are sold out.
Don't stress about losing watchers. For one thing, some of those watchers were likely competitors. They will find you again once you list. The rest who were potential buyers would have purchased if they had wanted to purchase at the time. They are not good prospects for becoming actual buyers, so don't stress about not having them. New people will find you and if you sold out once, I'm sure you will again.

·11 months agoGood suggestion, it might not have prevented the OP's current issue because OOS listings at zero renew 5 times and then are ended. This will remain in Ended/Unsold for another 90 day so the safe total is give or take 9 Months. (can be as little as 8 months). Unless the OP sold out at Christmas it would be too late now.
