How Do I Pass on A Percentage of the Ebay Postage Discount?
I'm in Florida, so my postage varies widely. I've been asking enough postage to cover shipments to the West Coast... which penalizes those closest (and probably hurts sales).
Is there a way to have the Postage rates automatically calculated while passing on most of the seller discount?
I came across this "Offer buyers a custom percentage off standard carrier rates. You are required to pay for the amount discounted." What does that mean? Do I still get the discounted rate and pay as usual?
Any help appreciated.

·4 months agoThe more items you have, the easier it is to have calculated shipping. Otherwise, every time there is a post office hike, you have to change everything. You can always add a handling fee under shipping options on your listings.

·4 months agoI haven't raised my FR ship costs for GA but after this one I'm going to have to. I can't keep eating the fees on 4-8oz items.

·4 months agoYou can solve postage issue by using calculated shipping on eBay, when listing an item. It will automatically charge buyers based on their location, so nearby buyers don’t overpay.
You’ll still get eBay’s discounted shipping rates when you buy labels from ebay and you can offer it to buyers.
If you choose to offer extra discounts on shipping, that part will come out of your own pocket, so it’s optional.

·4 months agoLike me, it appears to me that almost all of your items would ship by USPS for under $6 (either Media Mail or Ground Advantage at 8 ounces or less).
I tend to offer a flat rate of $4.95 (i.e. at or below most other sellers), raise my prices by 50 cents, and simplify my life.

·4 months agoJust use calculated rates instead. You will receive ebay's discounted commercial rate. You can choose whether or not you want to pass on the savings to customers, there is an option for that.
When using calculated rates, the west coast will pay what it costs to ship to the west coast, and your neighbors will pay what it cost to ship locally. You can add a handling fee if needed too. This is all done through the business policies page.

·4 months agoCorrect, that will change what the buyer pays but will have no impact on what you pay.
I didn’t look at your listings, but do be cautious, because if you use a service like USPS Media Mail, which does not have a discounted rate for you, that setting will result in the buyer getting a discount but you paying the regular price. That only applies to a few services that don’t get discounted rates though.
