OP1 year agoAll I know is when I sell high priced items I never hear a peep from people! Sell something cheap and include an accurate description and you get hit with negative feedback! Someone once sent me a negative once for a pack of seeds that they won for 20 cents and free shipping! But I’m sure those same people love supporting Jeff bezos yacht!

·1 year agoone thing I think might cause some problems when selling for parts non working is the word "untested" this implies that it might just work and a buyer could think, i will test it and send it back if it does not work.
I think that just stating "non working" in the title and condition notes is better.

·1 year agoThe listing should have said 'Untested Piece of Crap Probably Doesn't Work'.
Would that have solved the problem?

·1 year agoThere are actually usable Parts inside this Kind of Battery packs.
There is always a BMS inside that can be reused and if maybe only one Cell is broken you can replace it and fix the Battery Pack or the use the remaining good Cells for something else.
The Case can also be used to Fix another Battery Pack so in my opinion the Seller did nothing wrong and the buyer is either trying to pull a number here to get the item for free or is one of those who really doesn't read the description and complains just to cover his own stupidity.
There is way to get the Negative comment remove by contacting eBay if the Item matches the description but the Seller left a Negative review as Damage Control without a Reason to do so which in my opinion is clearly the Case

I'll bet there are not many people who actually know there are usable parts inside a battery pack.
And I'll bet this buyer is not "stupid". Whether he read the description or not, who knows? He just needed a battery and bought one and it didn't work so he is unhappy. It sounds like he doesn't know about eBay's MBG so he did the only thing he knew to do, he left a neg for the seller. Whether the buyer or the seller is at fault in this case, what is presented is a good enough reason for eBay to accept this buyer is an unhappy customer.

·1 year agoThanks for clarifying that there could be "usable" parts on the battery.
That was beyond my understanding.

·1 year agoYes, but these are things that the 'normal' person wouldn't have any use for.
In order to make disassembly of batteries financially viable you have to buy millions of them, and pay someone to do the work.
mam98031
·1 year agoIf they sell stuff no "normal" person would need as you qualify it. Then their stuff won't sell.

No amount of words will make them safe to sell here.

·1 year agoI think some didn't understand what the seller is selling..."Antique Mall' is HIS title.
While it has no use as a battery...there are some strange buyers who collect certain things.
Like old cell phones that don't work anymore...etc. , etc.
I know it sounds weird...but you be surprised one man's garbage is another man's treasure.
Some people collect keys that open nothing...LOL
I had a pile of keys that I threw away collecting in a drawl.
The negative feedback is silly...'I will sue you'...is saying that even allowed in a feedback?
That think that feedback would hurt the OP...it's rather funny.
However, it was a 10 buck item and I would have given the buyer a refund.

·1 year agoYes - people sell all kinds of weird stuff on here and others collect it, absolutely, and the point is, was it listed honestly and in the right category? For instance a battery that is very hard to get now might prompt someone to take a chance on purchasing an untested one to get their strange widget to work again. As a matter of fact, I have one of those oddball batteries sitting on my desk right now - it powers some kind of old tech but I haven't figured out what yet.
And yeah, I would have just refunded, too.

·1 year agoEven though you listed it for parts or repair, you said it was untested, you didn't say it didn't work.
chapeau-noir
·1 year agoParts or repair is by definition not working, though, so can't be tested. I sell 'for parts or repair' myself - I can't test the stuff, it has to be fixed or parted out.
kensgiftshop
·1 year agoIt doesn't always mean it doesn't work.
Could have a broken case that needs repaired, but still works.
I've sold items for parts or repair, but I always mention that I don't know if it works or not because I have no way to test it.

·1 year agoAll that means nothing if a buyer files a NAD (not as described) claim. The NAD claim requires acceptance of the return or a refund without return.
@makebidz
Did the buyer open a NAD return request?
If not, I'd respond to the feedback with "I'm sorry you aren't pleased with the item. Please return it for a refund."
Then if the buyer doesn't return it, you might have more leverage in getting the feedback removed since you made the offer and you were willing to make the buyer happy.
kensgiftshop
·1 year agoI know it doesn't mean anything if the buyer files an INAD.
If the buyers knows up front it might not work, they might not buy the item in the first place.

mam98031
·1 year agoTo have feedback successfully removed, it MUST breach one of the Feedback Policy rules. Because you think it should be removed simply is not enough. It has to break one of the rules. And you must take care of it within 60 days.

"Update: eBay did not remove negative feedback! Nobody cares about the little guy including the billions that help jeff bezo buy a billion dollar yacht! Lol"
Two simple solutions either change your return policy to 30 day return and seller pays for shipping or don't sell items that are untested and don't work. If you had a 30 day return and seller pays for shipping cost back then Ebay would have more than likely sided with you and removed your feedback because the buyer had the right to return the item. You have a no return policy and the item not working untested. Guess what unfortunately for you as a seller you will come across buyers who fail to read the description or think they are getting something else even though you clearly state "not working for parts."

·1 year agoIf every seller had to list everything a thing didn't do or have there wouldn't have been a single ebay sale yet.
makebidz
OP1 year agoYes they bought it hoping it would work probably knowing what the listing said and when they found out it didn’t work they hit me with a negative feedback!
mam98031
·1 year agoThe three negatives you have, one the buyer says something about the item not working. That was the oldest one. The buyer likely didn't want to return it because it was a low purchase price and not worth their time. Now would it have been your time to process a return, of course not. There was also nothing they said that would have enabled you to get their feedback removed.
But YOU said something in your response to that feedback that IS a policy violation. "We messaged buyer to send a refund if they will remove feedback and buyer ignored us!" That is a big no no to require a buyer to removed the feedback you don't like to get a refund. So you are lucky the buyer didn't report you.
As to the other two negatives. I gave you information on them earlier and I don't see any feedback rule they broke that would enable you to get them removed. But you should review the Feedback Policy in case I missed something.

·1 year agoThat isn't a thing that any seller can require.
mam98031
·1 year agoOf course not. And it is also something that Ebay would frown upon.
grand-and-glorious-purpose
·1 year agoI doubt ebay is spending any effort frowning upon things that don't exist.
Can you imagine how much time that would eat up?
mam98031
·1 year agoI understand that it isn't anything you have experienced. It doesn't however mean that it doesn't exist. It just means you have not experienced it. It is called feedback manipulation and it simply is not allowed. So if they buyer had of reported you, Ebay could have sanctioned you. It simply is not a good practice to do this ever.

·1 year agoYou need to put "VCR not working" in your "Orion" CRT TV listing and repeat that in the condition and item descriptions. You also say it is by Orion but is a Toshiba TV and some of the item description doesn't make sense. If a buyer forces a return on it, you will suffer quite a financial loss due to the cost of shipping both ways. I wouldn't even sell that online, I would sell it local only, too high of a risk versus reward (the TV itself could also fail anytime due to age and you'd be on the hook for it if you sell it online).

·1 year agoDon't worry about the lawsuit. It will cost more to file the lawsuit than the price of the item. One way to avoid any of this in the future is to not only list items like this for parts, but in the description describe it as "Not working. This is being sold for parts only". These days descriptions require amateur legal abilities to write descriptions that protect you.
Your description with only nine words is asking for trouble. You should be able to get it removed since it clearly was listed for parts, but these days with eBay, you never know.

·1 year agoDon't understand the post above?? Parts or repair is simply that. At any rate, I shifted my parts or repair stuff to another site because of this kind of nonsense.
You can try here, and if no luck simply leave a professional response reassuring future buyers that you are an honest seller (i.e., "Item listed for parts or repair"). I would not pursue a return or try to buy/beg/bribe feedback revision out of this transaction - it's kind of a ridiculous neg, a 'sad' buyer who wants to sue over a $10 battery. 🙄
dy60609
·1 year agoIf you are referring to my post............................
"Parts or not working" does not as we know get the seller out of anything on ebay.
My point is .............. as far as we are enlightened, the item was garbage (even if the seller did not know), so a battery that does not work is a waste of money ($18-19) for the buyer. ($18-19 paperweight?) Just my thought, but not a good move to list such. There are no parts to be had from a "battery". Either its good, or its bad. The common man has no ability to "repair" a Li-ion battery.
Neg feedback? Not sure what all happened after the sale. Possibly no buyer contact. Perhaps the buyer did not know they could start an INAD. (seller does not accept returns) Buyer is annoyed that their money is gone........ INAD, seller is out $8-9 shipping. Is it worth selling such an item?
Seller says neg feedback left because buyer did not read title. I expect that the buyer read the title. Hard to miss, but again, listing an item that has no "parts or repair" value as "for parts or repair" expecting to be golden is not the best idea.
Seller performance level is not affected by a neg. If they do not know that the MBG overrides "returns not accepted" that neg may make some buyers think twice before purchasing, and perhaps the neg will serve as a reminder for the seller to think about listing such items "for parts".

·1 year agoThat's a subjective opinion, though, and even if I agree with it (which I do - I wouldn't sell an untested battery, either), it was not miss-described. It *was* an untested battery listed "for parts or repair". There was no jail to get out of, free or otherwise, it was just selling something that most of us probably wouldn't have bothered with, but which this seller did.

bad feedback, or a refund is the "jail" of which I speak ðŸ˜

·1 year agoThe buyer needs to read the description - that's pretty simple.
ETA: There's good reason I take my repairable/parts spendy small appliances elsewhere - between eBay's inability to adjudicate and the market here...just no. I'll sell to the fixer market elsewhere - it's lucrative.
dy60609

·1 year agoeBay loves its deadbeat buyers because eBay uses the negs to restrict accounts and they can keep millions of sellers money and invest it. Huge scam. No wonder sellers are fleeing eBay. They don't want to be abused.
