How can I report a scammer with 2 user names?
Hello,
Here's the story. He contacted me about an item I had listed, he sent me a picture of a hand written note asking me if I would sell it off of Ebay so he could avoid the taxes ($1800 item). I said no, but sent him a lower offer & he excepted it. The day he received the item he relisted it under a different user name trying to make a profit, he relisted it as MINT condition. A few days after he listed the item it was bid up to $1250 with about 7 days remaining, he then canceled his auction and asked to return the item to me because the condition was not what I listed it as, which is a lie! If that was true why would he describe it as mint. We are talking about a vintage lunch box, so it would not take him several days find condition issues. Anyway, Ebay ruled in his favor as expected, even though I reported what he did. I'm sure no human actually saw my message. Is there anyway he can be exposed or can he do this anytime he wants to?

·1 year agoI am so sorry this happened to you.
That buyer showed their true colors during their initial contact with you. Most of the time that information comes out as a surprise at a later date.
Politely decline and block.
Having ebay stepping in or ruling on an issue is a very painful experience as you discovered.

·1 year agoReport the buyer, send them photo of message trying to purchase off of eBay.
That should end one of his user ID's.

You can report him as others have suggested.
But if you are hoping to see evidence or confirmation that your report had an effect and that he has been punished by eBay, that will never happen.

You don't really know if your buyer and the seller are the same, even if they are the same person is irrelevant. Buyers have a right to resell what they purchased.
Your buyer decided the item wasn't as described and wants to return it.
Instead of having eBay step in you should have just accepted the return, received the item back and refunded. You could have relisted it yourself.
Now you probably don't have the item, no money and received a defect for cases closed without a seller resolution.
Expose the buyer for what? Wanting to make a profit on a resale? Or wanting to return something that wasn't as described?
Sorry you have no recourse. IMO.
You can report the message regarding taking the sale off eBay , but since the transaction actually was completed on eBay chances are nothing will happen.

·1 year agoYou have the ability to report the sender of a message right in the Ebay message system. I would encourage you to do that.
When you open the message, there are ... [three dots] in the upper right corner. Click on that and there is a link to report the message.
There was a time that if a buyer purchased something from a seller, listed it as for sale on Ebay, then at a later date decided they were going to close down their listing and ask the seller to process a refund, that use to be a reason to not allow the buyer to return for refund. But IDK if that is still in play. It was never a written rule.
I would encourage you to contact Ebay on Facebook. The better trained CSRs are there.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.
