How about ebay's gives us a flag of registration next to our usernames?
After reading about issues of people being confused about where their purchased items are shipping from, would it be a good idea if eBay allowed sellers to show a flag of the country they are registered in next to our user name? We could go one step further and have a country flag showing where the merchandise will ship from, too
So a US registered user, shipping their own inventory from their location, would have two US flags next to their name. A Canadian seller ,selling items from the US would have a Canadian Flag first and a US flag second.
Just an idea, since buyer's habits are more visual in nature. In commercial business we have gone to pictograms for safety issues because users just don't read warnings, but they can "see" them in a global language

·1 year agoIt would probably add to the general confusion.
On the UK site if you see a big banner on an ad saying UK seller along with the Union Jack flag, there's a very good chance they are in reality a Chinese seller.
I assume there's similar on the US site.

OP1 year agoThat is the idea of the second flag showing items location....its all just a quick visual like seeing the feedback #. Maybe the second flag is cut to look like a little warehouse icon...and again hover over it and it spells out the country for you

·1 year agoUnfortunately, the flags will not tell the buyers whether the item being shipped from the US with a buyer resident in another country is in violation of Ebay dropshipping policy. It will just give an apparent Ebay blessing to the listing.
Complicating things which are the subject of abuse often creates more issues not fewer.

·1 year agoI love the idea! I recognize the flags of all the countries I like to buy from. I also recognize the ones I don't, and would be fine with looking up any I don't recognize.
I hope someone who matters sees this post.

·1 year agoA seller's items could be shipping from a country different from their country of registration.
Listings are supposed to state where the item is located. When I view your listings as a search list, I'm told in the search results that they ship from the United States (I'm in Canada). When I click on one of the search results and view the listing page, it goes into more detail and gives a California location for the item.
I'm guessing that any confusion you may have been reading about is the result of sellers manipulating the item location.

·1 year agoWhat makes you think most people could id flags other than their own? (and probably some don't recognize that).........

OP1 year agoNot being able to identify other flags...that right there might tell them all they really need to know.
Now if we went by State flags, then you have a point....
When I've seen this done, when you hover over the flag, it spells out the nation....unfortunately that brings us back to reading....
