Here's a promotion glitch removing items doesn't always work
This is pretty sneaky and I will never run a campaign again. There's nothing straight forward about it. Best to delete all your listings and make sure no campaigns are created when relisting. I'm noticing now that not only on the campaign dashboard is this a problem but also in the bulk editing section when you specifically select "stop promoting". It's pretty obvious to me ebay is trying to sneak some extra fees in hoping a seller doesn't notice. It's bad enough small sellers are never seen anymore and their items are never recommended in search but this is sneaky, deceptive and outright criminal.

Which does not mean that there is value in pay per click advertising for the advertiser. The death of most media leaves few alternatives to ppc. AI will replace the remaining marketeers and ad execs since they have such limited options to choose from.

·9 months agoI ended all promoted listings on December 22nd...but had an item sold the other day that was promoted 15% within that 30 day beyond ending promoted listings.
I want to see what happens on the 14th because my items are still considered promoted of that 30 day ending of promotions.
I never saw my listings under other sellers with exact same item even though my items were cheaper and the same and promoted 15% - 20%.
Maybe it was because I am considered a small seller or have free shipping...I don't know.
Promoted simply means your eBay selling fee is higher for each item sold.

·9 months agoIf I were in charge of writing the promoted listing placement algorithm, I would NEVER show a seller's listing to HIMSELF during a search, because it would be a complete waste of a placement spot because a seller is never going to buy from himself.

·9 months agoIn my opinion, anything other than promoting with a general strategy (in which you are charged a flat percentage when your item sells) is not only a complete waste of time, but extremely risky. Click-based campaigns rarely generate anywhere near the revenue necessary to justify their cost. They're a complete racket.
In less than a week even the general campaigns are also going to be a scam, and sellers will be paying for nothing. I've already ended the promotion of the majority of my listings, and have lowered my rate to 2% (it was 2.5%-3%) on those that remain. The campaign for the remaining promoted items is scheduled to end on 1/12/26. On 1/13/26 I will run another sale with a bigger discount, create a coupon for followers and previous buyers, and send out notifications to both groups letting them know that bigger discounts are on the horizon. I've always had much better luck with sales/coupons than with promotions anyway.
