Haven't you noticed that everything is just sitting stale after the new promotions marketing scheme
everything is dead and all i get from ebay is lower your prices, send out offers and raise your promotion percentage?
no to all of the above, everything is priced accordingly, some have allow offers on them and I will review them if and when they come. - will not send out offers to probably another seller comparing prices
will not raise promotions percentage, i am paying enough as it is
ebay should stop charging us a percentage on shipping as the rates keep going up and also the expense of the packing supplies.

·6 months agoYeah, I definitely lost about $90 in sales over a few days from using it without keeping an eye on the rates. I wouldn’t call it a scheme; it would only work well on certain items.

·6 months agoThose who use PL (I no longer do) are PAYING to have a higher placement in Search.
Would you sell to the underbidder in an auction who will pay you less for your item?
EBay fees are a purchase of space on their website.
Some sellers are paying more for a shop on Main Street between the Apple Store and Nordstrom.
Some sellers are paying less for a shop between a car wash and a thrift store in a strip mall on the edge of town.

·8 months agoDidn't have one sale yet today...very rare.
But I have been posting items usually every other day.
I did turn off promoting last month and turned a few days ago on maybe 30 items promoted to test the 'new waters'.
You know the old saying...if I don't make money...eBay doesn't make money...tomorrow is another day.
Some of us here can be quite snarky sometimes replying to a post...almost forgetting what the original OP post was about.

·8 months agoThis is usually my best quarter for sales, but not this year.
After a strong start, sales to the USA have dropped drastically, although I am getting a lot more European sales.
For the record, I ship from Canada.
I have switched to listing on dotCA because I can use the newly introduced eIS /canada which takes care of problems with the Trump Tariff, since US buyers must pay it before I see their address.
But my shipping does appear higher as a result.
I dropped Promoted Listings which I had on about 10-20% of my listings (at the minimum 2%) because of concerns about how the new "halo" system will work in practice.
I did find that while PL increased my Views, it was not the PL listings that were selling. But the eyeballs PL drew seemed to be buying other offers.
I do use Best Offer on all my listings.
I used targetted Eligible for Offers.
These give me sales about 20% of the time with the Eligible Offers being more useful that the Best Offer.
And I try to list every day.
The Newly Listed items get more Views than any others.
I use Notes on my Active Listings to track the date I listed items.

·8 months agoHave you considering NOT promoting? Your items aren't in saturated categories and you don't seem to have much competition.
You may also want to look at your metrics. If you have a couple of dings, which you may based on the negatives in your feedback, you might need to work on that. The negs don't really do anything, but if the buyers are reporting INADs, that will earn you a ding or two. When that happens, your visibility may be affected.
When things get slow for me, I just run a sale. You can also list more new items, end/sell similar your current ones, and work on getting your feedback straightened out so you'll be less likely to lose out on sales when potential buyers do search for the items you're selling.

OP8 months agoI don't have a store, so ebay does not let me run sales - what I had done was lower the prices and people were messaging me to ask for a deeper discount. These statues are Antique quality items and the problem is that ebay suggest an almost nothing price, based on the cheap resin statues online. But due to that I was attracting these low ballers - I raised the prices again a bit. It has been unfortunate to me that when I have lowered the prices on the quality items - I have attracted these two scammers that left the negative, one, you can see where he whacked the statue with an object to break off the head and the other one I sent them a 4 pound solid resin doll, but there are knock offs on the market- bait and switch.
jufu_6861
OP8 months agooh and this picture he left out of the negative. the post office did not do this, this is done by the crazy person that bought it, all he had to do is contact me and I would off taken the statue back and returned his money and resold it - after confronted with the truth - he cancel the return request - but left the negative.

OP8 months agoi wish ebay would let the sellers in response to the negative allow to post pictures as evidence of the scam

·8 months agoYou have a small selection of items listed and none which can be described as "high demand".
There is nothing wrong with having that as your offerings so long as you understand that your sales will not be consistent and predictable and will rise and fall each month.
Some of your items are probably not benefiting from promotion like the Jose Gregorio Hernandez Statue which has only a few competitive listings.

No, I haven't noticed.
If it's a "scheme" then why are you participating in it at all?

·8 months agobecause if you sell in a category like media the way I do eBay will absolutely bury your items from view unless you participate in promoted listings. I have tested this on multiple listings and on 2 separate accounts and the amount of impressions is night and day. The promoted listings arent even more than what you used to get before they started this whole thing .... it just allows you to keep the views you used to have before they started pushing the extra charges on everyone.
jonathanbrightlight
·8 months agoI sell media (books mostly but a lot of dvds and cds and other media too), and we do not promote anything. Our listings are not buried and our sales are consistently great.

·8 months agoHaven't you noticed that everything is just sitting stale after the new promotions marketing scheme
No, I have not noticed that. In fact, I've seen a little uptick in sales recently. Just in the last week I've had a couple nice $125+ sales that came less that 24 hours after I listed the items.
will not raise promotions percentage
I can't speak to that, I've never promoted a listing in my life.
