Asking prices are sky high, even for partially used, dried out and cracked lids.

·2 years agoI should have stocked up on cases of Weller Antique 107 bourbon back in 2016 when it was $20 a bottle and widely available. Now MSRP is $60 and secondary is like $300 - $500 (for current stock)

·2 years agoI guess I have to ask why were these discontinued in the first place? Lack of sales? Overpriced?
My guess the manufacturer was targeting the lazy consumer who will not take the time to treat a stain before washing.

OP2 years agoI used the stain stick to treat stains as soon as hubby or kids removed their clothes before bedtime.
The stain stick allowed us to swipe the stain and let it work until laundry day. No need to immediately soak or wash the item. Lazy or smart?

I was curious as well and did a cursory Google search to find out. I figured maybe people were eating them like the Tide Pods or something. I didn't find any reasons.

OP2 years agoIt was originally a Spray n' Wash product then became a Resolve product. Then went the way of the dodo bird.
I don't recall any reason publicly announced for discontinuing. I bought a few on clearance and gave them to a local women and children's shelter.

·2 years agoI really miss the discontinued Clorox Bleach Gel Pens with the dual tip. Those were so useful. I would have stocked up if I knew they were being discontinued several years ago. No way I'll pay $35-$50 for one (the average list price).

OP2 years agoOh my gosh, I have several of the unopened Clorox Bleach Gel Pens. I stocked up during a sale using $1 off 1 coupons ages ago. I have 5 or 6 left.
They are great for whitening the grout in my tiled shower. No way am I giving them up 🙂

·2 years agoI don't blame you. They are awesome. When I said I would have stocked up, I meant for personal use not reselling. There is no substitute for that product.

I learned years ago that when a good product that I use regularly can be purchased for a great price to stock up. I don't clear a store shelf or anything greedy like that but usually purchase enough for 6 months. Buying a couple here and there or shopping two or three times during the sale. I share with a Feed Your Neighbor program and family members.
Not only is stocking up a hedge against inflation with higher prices for smaller amounts and supply chain issues these days but I've experienced more than a few products I liked being discontinued by the manufacturer.

I did stock up on them... they still work great! I also stocked up on Tide Pens... they go funky after a bit. Who knew??

·2 years agoTide sticks dry out pretty easily. Tide sticks are still available, though I've heard the Oxi-Clean sticks are more effective. I don't use any of those stain sticks.
But those Clorox pens ... supposedly they stopped making them because of the environmental impact of the packaging. At least that's what I read about 4 years ago when I was looking for some to buy and they were already discontinued. I'd take the product and put it in my own dispenser if they sold containers of the gel, but last time I checked they didn't sell the gel.

·2 years ago@wastingtime101 Ha, I've got one of those. I had no idea it was discon'd. I'll send it to you for free if you want, just PM me. It's partially used though. I almost never use it. I'm a bit slow on my DM's right now, was out of town for a day.
In regards to these in general, there are always some beloved discon'd products that fetch crazy prices. It's just a matter of knowing which they are LOL. The most beloved croutons in the US were discon'd a few years ago. People on the mfr's site saying they would have paid double/triple or more the retail cost if they'd keep making them. Rothbury Farms Seasoned Croutons. They were ridiculously cheap & sooooo good!

OP2 years agoI purchased the Resolve Laundry Stain Remover Stick for around $2.50 to $2.99 each. Used manufacturer's cents off coupons and store sales to get lower prices and stocked up. I recall paying less than $2 for a couple. I'm down to one left. Great convenient product. Shame it was discontinued.
