Handling selling in time of inclimate weather shipping delays

If my forecast is correct we could get a lot of snow tomorrow, Tuesday, and it may not begin melting until Sat. or Sun. I'm in the rural South Ozark Mountains where road crews cannot be counted on to be of much help. Is there a way to remain open for biz here but tell customers shipping will resume next Monday? Or is it best to just shut it all down, which I really do not want to do. Thanks

yeah, I just recently learned that ebay's so-called protection against this sort of thing

is just an illusion. There are so many places or small pockets of areas that have inclimate

weather, but ebay only covers you if you live within one of the large storms that hit an area.

Just another thing you have to worry about as an unprotected ebay seller.

I am in Southwest Missouri and we are expecting lots of snow also so extended our handling time to 10 business days. We probably can ship sooner than that but it gives us some protection.

10 days sounds like a nice buffer as long as buyers don't get impatient.

10 days sounds like a nice buffer as long as buyers don't get impatient.

We probably will send out way sooner as we only live a little over a mile from PO but our street is awful in bad weather.
To me if they can see our handling time they shouldn't get impatient...LOL

Here in MO too and waiting. I just extent my handling time to 3 days, worked out for the Ice storm we got last month, weekends aren't included.

You can extend your handling time from 1 up to 40 days. If you want to and by the looks of it you might want to do a 7- 10 day.

I would do that instead of going on time away.

I use time away and just shut everything down until I know I'd be able to start shipping again.

You could extend your handling time, but what's going to happen if something else comes up and you won't be able to ship then.

Mail did not run one day and UPS shut it down early. Thought I was going to take some shipping hits but things somehow worked out.

I was cussing myself though.

Around here, we never know what the weather is going to do.

I remember one year they were talking about 8 to 10 inches of snow, which wouldn't be to much of a problem, but we ended up getting around 3 feet of snow.

When they start talking about snow and ice, I'd rather shut down and not need it, then not shut down and need it.

Next time I see it coming, I am doing time away. When I try to change handling times, everything I have sent offers on will not allow me to change handling time.

I will use Time Away and watch the snow/ice fall while I sit in front of the fireplace slurping hot cocoa.

For me, as I don't do auctions,........... other than the 31-59 minute kick in delay....................... it is that easy ðŸ˜

If I am at the high end of the timeframe (or even the low end) and cannot wait, I always have the option to use OOS.

What i meant was i wish it was that easy to apply that feature (time away) to life at times. ðŸ˜€

For example, your wife/husband hands you the dreaded "Honey Do" list. However, moments before you have changed your profile to "time away" thus avoiding those tasks. ðŸ˜‚

Could apply to dish washing, laundry or when asked to watch RomCom movies on demand. YMMV

Just extend your handling time, you can still sell items but don't have to be in a rush to mail them out.

That is your Best option is time away, If you really feel it will be that bad for you & USPS, Otherwise you would be taking a Big Chance of packages not delivered on time
