Grrr prohibited medical accessories that (don't) need a prescription
Recently listed cpap accessories that do not require a prescription, and then Ebay says, oops, you can't list these (although hundreds of other sellers have) because they require a prescription. Except they don't. My question is, why have *categories* for items that you say are prohibited??
I know there's no logical answer to this question, just venting for validation.

OP3 years agoCpap accessories don't need a prescription, which is why I didn't think they were prohibited. That and the fact that *there is a whole category already set up for them.* Ebay can never answer this question. If it's illegal and prohibited, why do you have a category for it??

·3 years agoI used to sell new sealed Cpap Masks on ebay and got my items taken down a few times on both of my accounts.
You can only list certain accessories like the head strap, the swivel and some other small pieces of the mask but not the entire mask.
How do you know which pieces?
Just open up the chat with the ebay rep and they will give you a link to a government website.
Go to the mask maker's website and download the pdf that identifies every piece with the product number.
Plug the number into the website, it will give you a code and some description blablabla.
Basically if it comes up green on that site you can sell it and ebay won't take down your listing.
This is straight from the ebay customer service rep.
I just didn't feel like being bothered because I now have 3 warning ( seatbelt extender, air bags and resmed cpap mask ) so I went on Facebook and joined the cpap for sale group and sold them there.

·3 years agoFacebook will take it down also If you post it for sale on the marketplace.
You have to join a private group such as " cpap supplies for sale ".
Just do a search in groups on Facebook.
Since it's a privte group and you're " trading " between members they let it slide for now.

·3 years agoThere are also some sellers who are qualified as authorized sellers because at some point they showed ebay documentation that they are an authorized medical supply company.
I don't think ebay allows that anymore same as with authorized car parts dealers who can sell airbags.
Ebay just doensy want to deal with the legality and headaches that comes with it and banned it across the board.

·3 years agoThat is sadly true. They are overworked, underpaid, poorly trained, have no authority, work from scripts that may or may not be actually applicable, and they will say just about anything to get you off the line so they can take the next call. I don't blame them. I blame eBay.
People say they get much better results by contacting eBay on Facebook or Twitter, though.
And, of course, this forum is a good place to get help, as there are many experienced and knowledgeable sellers here.

"Any medical device that requires a prescription can't be sold on eBay, including:
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machines (CPAP), along with masks, humidifiers, heated water chambers, and heated tubing..."

eBay sets the rules here. Don't relist the item as it could cause you your entire account. Sell it elsewhere or locally.

·3 years agoAll CPap and CPap accessories are figured to 'need a prescription' and/or the person buying them had a 'prescribed' CPap machine; so eBay just bans all 'needs a prescription' items.
