As many of you know, I am not a fan of Ebay Make An Offer. My listings do not have Make An Offer enabled, which means these messages are not automatically rejected.
The buyer is seeking a price reduction which is the shipping cost.
I have never offered "free" shipping and never will.
My desire is to flame the SOB. My well entrenched customer service instincts tell me to politely tell him to go jump in a lake. Couple that with the desire to add him to my BBL and electrocute him because the firing squad has the weekend off, that is how I began my Saturday.

Just tell them USPS doesn't ship your parcels for free, and you are not a charity.
Block them if you want to, and move on with your life.....

·1 month agoI would just block them. I removed best offer from my listings about a week ago and could not be happier. If any come through my messages I am going to ignore the same way I ignore requests for local pickup "so they can save on the shipping" - no, my time is worth more than dealing with these requests.

OP1 month agoI removed Make an Offer many months ago. Not sure it was a help. Auto rejection meant my time was not wasted.
I would consider turning it on and setting it up to reject as much as possible, but then someone might start a thread about why sellers say they accept offers and don't.
Oh wait, someone already has.

·1 month agoMy BO sales have just about died, the reason being I have far fewer listings now I guess. I just had 2 sales where I made FP listings for people to buy now after reaching out to me but no offers at all anymore.

·1 month ago · EditedNot always, but sometimes (when I'm in a bad mood) I will break down the shipping costs for buyers like these ... so they can see that the $7 shipping I'm charging them is LESS than what it actually costs.

·1 month agoI don't put the Make-An-Offer button in my listings. An ID with 5,000 feedback sent an unsolicited best offer for $5.00 on an item with free shipping.
I replied that it costs between $5.24 and $6.36 to send a USPS Ground Advantage package with tracking. There are final value selling fees on top of that. Then added them to my BBL.
Did this person click on Leave Me Signed In and a family member made the silly offer?
There will always be an infinite supply of new buyers that need to learn etiquette and common sense.

Imagine you make items that nobody on Planet Earth makes for a Frivolous $100,000 car so the person can take it to a car show to get a trophy, and getting a 'will you take $40' on a $59 item? (also never have offers, BIN w/Shipping as shown).
But, just to appease my appallness (is that a word?)
I do add that person to my BBL list after telling them:
"you should sell that car if you can't afford to show it off"
