The listing where @gurlcat selected Gallery Plus is the only one that doesn't have the blue Top Rated seal. A consequence of making that change? Or, perhaps, there is another reason for its absence.

Okay that just sucks! And there's definitely no other reason; that listing is just as qualified for TRS+ as the rest. Welp, all the more reason not to waste a dollar. 😆

Okay here's what eBay says about it. But it's not working on mine; nothing happens when I hover over the picture. There IS now a magnifying glass for the buyer to click and see all the photos without opening the whole listing ..... but .... first, they would have to know about that, and second, how is that easier than just opening the listing???? This thing is WHACK, but now you know. 🤣
and, I just listed a piece of Roseville, and the category should qualify for gallery plus for free, which it does, but the box is not automatically checked anymore. In fact the box is not even there, unless I do the dropdown that you showed in your screen shot.
When I check that dropdown, it places the box there, but it is unchecked, so I have to then check the box under the photo, which is showing it is free for the category I choose.
So the steps to activate it on the Roseville listing...
1. click the drop down,
2. check gallery plus on the dropdown
3. find the box under the photo which now appears
4. check that box under the photo, but also make sure it says free after the box.
So apparently even though it is free for most of the items I currently have on, many probably don't have gallery plus active at the moment.
Again, not a big loss because if I was paying a buck, it would be like throwing the buck down the drain anyway.
@gb58 Not that it will matter much in this case, but whenever you use that menu to make an option appear on a listing, you should see it on all future listings. At least that's how it is with the Schedule Listing option, for me.
@cristian3_6 I'm curious too. I don't have any new listings ready to launch but maybe the information alone would be worth a dollar to find out?
Then again I don't know how you'd measure its effectiveness, particularly with a one of a kind item. Like when it sells, how could you know if it sold faster, or got higher bids as an auction item (or whatever) than if you hadn't used it?
You sell vintage jewelry, so I think you are automatically opted into gallery plus for no charge. There is a little box on the listing form which you can uncheck, but since it's free, why would you.
@gb58 Nope, in fact when I went just now to check (opening up an existing listing for revision), I couldn't even see a Gallery option. -I remembered I had seen it before, but couldn't remember how long ago. But I see it's now one of those "options where you have to give yourself the option to see the option so you can take the option" jobbers, LOL.
But I went ahead and checked it, why not? The past few months have been good to me. And yes the $1.00 is already charged to my Payments. But what the heck is this mess? My thumbnail is no bigger than normal. If anything the one at the bottom of this screenshot is, but just baaaarely.
@gurlcat : It did something. When my curser gets close to that photo in your listings, a magnifying glass icon shows up on the lower right. That doesn't happen with your other photos. I haven't played around with it enough to see what that magnifier actually does.
And, don't forget to remove the Gallery Plus (assuming that you can) before it relists next month, otherwise you pay another dollar, I suppose.
Actually the categories I sell in, it is given to us for free.
"Free for listings in the Art, Antiques, Collectibles, and Pottery & Glass categories"
So yes, 99% of my listings have it. I don't pay for it. If I had to pay for it, no I would not use it, because it would cost me an extra $1,000 a month.
I've been on ebay since 1999, and in those 27 years, I've never seen any benefit to it. Ebay doesn't even explain what the benefit is supposed to be for the extra $1.
My understanding, and I may be wrong about this, but I think it is supposed to display a slightly larger photo to people viewing your items in search. I think that is it.
If anyone knows any other benefit, I'd love to hear what it is.

Heck I'd have some books that would be well over $100 in the negative

And yeah it's a buck for vintage jewelry.

How large, who knows, just large, that will be a buck. No thanks.
