Freight Shipping Option No Longer Works Had Worked For Many Years Previoulsy | Selling

I had a customer who was not able to buy an item that is marked freight as the shipping policy, item is 350 pounds so too large for FedEx or UPS, as he was getting a message saying "The item you selected can't be purchased because the seller has not specified freight shipping fees. In the past, the buyer could click buy it now on freight items, after which I would send him a revised invoice with the freight shipping cost. I called eBay who said that I need to enter a weight and dimensions and the buyer can then make the purchase. It says "optional" in those fields, but I entered the weight and dimensions anyway and the buyer got the same message so I guess what eBay told me to do was nothing more than a way to end the call? I called ebay again and after about 30 minutes, they told me to tell the person trying to make the purchase to do the following which is a joke: Instead of buy it now, click add to cart, then go to cart and click check out at which time you will get an error message. Ignore that message and scroll down to the bottom where you will see a â€œrequest order totalâ€ after which I can send an invoice with shipping cost. Many people will not bother with buying an item if it will not let them easily do it and I have no idea why eBay has made it so difficult for people to purchase items with freight as the shipping policy where it the past this was never an issue. Wondering if anyone else out there has a better solution for this as eBay, as with the new listing tool, has once created a problem where there was none before. (Worth noting that I lost the sale as the customer just did not want to deal with it.)
