I was simply annoyed by someone eliciting information and then ending it with "Go...."  It's just...silly.

This is frustrating for me.    I sell auto parts and nearly every return request I get is due to the buyer failing to read the description where I put VERY detailed information about fitment, especially in cases where eBay's catalog / compatibility thing doesn't break down applications well enough.   For 4 years, I did not accept returns unless the error was my fault (miscataloged, misboxed, etc...).   If the error was on the buyer, well...they should have read the description.   No returns.

This policy has worked well for me.

Now they are forcing us to be like Costco or Amazon.   Many of us are small businesses without the capital to eat returns all the time like the big corporations.

I'm forced now to comply, but I will monitor things and raise prices accordingly to cover whatever extra costs I'm forced to incur over this stupid new policy.

I've been selling on eBay for over 3 years. Changed to free returns when I qualified for Top Rated Seller. My sales jumped over 30% in the first month. My total transaction return rate from day 1 is less than 1%. I've never had a return on an item/order over $50.

I understand scammers are a problem in general. But I've only had a handful in my time here. I wonder if there are things I'm doing different or if I'm just lucky..? Cuz I really don't think offering free returns is as big of a deal as some are making it out to be.

If you are not happy here, then by all means find another selling venue.

Just curious, though, why you want to "start a list" of those who will be joining you in leaving.  If you aren't happy, why does it make any difference whether someone else leaves or not?  Other sellers have no bearing on your sales or your feelings about eBay.  The only "list" I've ever seen on here that has any relevance is the Secret Santa List at Christmas time.

I hope you understand that any other venue you choose to sell on will also have problems; maybe not the same problems but new or different ones.  And you won't have the worldwide exposure that you have on here.

@auctionsales13 Shopify is NOT a 'place' where buyers go to buy things. It is a WEBSITE builder and host. Period. You will need to spend about $10,000 a month to drive people to your 'website'.

^^^^^^^^   a lot of people myself included complain about what we do not like about ebay but the reason we do not leave is ebay is where the buyers are.

You either spend a fortune on ads or drive traffic some other way. If you were the largest and best supplier of Kei truck parts then you could probably succeed with your own site with minimal ads. However your product range is exceptionally small for that sort of thing and best suited for ebay.

Not going anywhere. My return rate is consistently around 1% - frequently as low as 1/2 of 1%. If yours is that much higher then maybe it's you not eBay that is the problem.

I read people write that all the time on here but rarely ever sell the same type of items they are comparing themselves to. If your return rate is routinely under .5% I highly doubt you sell strictly parts.

Selling what you sell and selling parts is completely different and not even in the same stratosphere comparatively. People buy the wrong parts, misdiagnose the issue so keep throwing parts at the problem until they get lucky, or they give up on the project and want to return the parts. Not to mention some parts are very heavy/large and cost a good amount to ship. Offering free returns on parts is business suicide.

Ah, that makes sense. Still violates the rules, but I don’t know that eBay’s AI can scan images for that type of violation yet so it’s less likely to be caught.

I think you have to look at what you are selling. You sell auto parts. Auto parts can have a high return rate due to the part not being exactly what the customers needs. It's all part of the business. Customer can't use it so they are allowed to return it. Do you personally deal with high return rates? If not then it's not that big of a deal than what you are making it out to be. Others including myself who sell random used items may not get the same amount of returns as you do cause of the products being sold.  I think it will be much harder for you to find another site to sell this stuff on other than Ebay.

So it’s alright just to keep ordering parts until you get the one you need??  I sell parts also buy parts for my truck and farm equipment on eBay!  I make sure I order what I need!  I’ve seen a few people over the years wanting to return because they don’t do the work prior to ordering!
If I don’t know about the part ask for fitment prior to purchase not after!  With that being said, if my returns now go way up, I’ll leave eBay!  Especially since my prices for parts almost always beat all others prices here!

You are an expert. There is a high chance that the buyer you deal with isn’t an expert. EBay will side with the buyer if the part isn’t the correct part they need. I had parts sitting for years and finally found buyers just to have parts returned cause it didn’t fit what they needed. Out shipping cost up and back. This happens and EBay will say it’s part of the business.

Not sure what "free returns policy" you are referring to but if are not already diversified on multiple platforms then that was not good business sense.

I think it will cost you far more in advertising to drive the traffic to your shopify store then you will possibly lose to returns.

Also, aren't Kei truck owners generally a rather expert crowd that knows exactly what they own?  Do you actually have a high return rate? I know I own a rare a sometimes parts difficult vehicle and I not only know what it is, but I know the minute changes in the platform between model years and would never accidentally order the wrong thing.
